Looks to me that the evidence for fossils on Mars is building as indicated in this excellent video (ignored the Little Green Men branding, it's actually very well researched):-

If there are indeed fossils on Mars, there will be a research gold rush on Mars which will boost the early economy. There will be thousands of geologists/paleontologists wanting to get out there.

The one near Curiositys wheel l believe to be a reflection of the rover, up close, (one of its wheels are visible) but 1 or 2 appear legit.

When to cosmic gasses cooled and the planets were still hot, it was Mars that was the coolest to have water a thick atmosphere and energy being recieved at enough of a level to have life spring up. With earth following with its own building blocks of life taking seed from impacts that caused mars to lose any chance to keeping it on the surface as it slowly decaded into the current state that we see now. If there is life still on mars it will be found underground in protected areas and may be several cells but probably not much more than simple plant and bacterium.

But what about previously? Do you think multicellular life forms ever developed on Mars...as you say, they would have had a head start on Earth.
