Spamming

Seems like this site is lost...no spam control. Sad.

Feel free to post here if you want to create a website dedicated to Mars colonisation.

Re: Spamming

Hi louis!

I wanted to say that I made a website called www.TerraformingForum.com which is about micro rovers/satellites and is mostly about all the planets OTHER then Mars because you can just post here or Marsdrive.

Re: Spamming

Spam seems well controlled now to my eyes but Q+A Captcha seems the solution in 2012 - 2013 :-)

no need to create a different website, just use Q+A Captcha, Webmaster what is your opinion?

Re: Spamming

Announcement: In order to combat spam, all users who have never posted are removed after 90 days

This is the best news ever in combatting the sleepers that are on this forum. Hopefully other forums will follow newmars lead and do likewise.

Re: Spamming

I see that we are still being hit with the onslaught new users (new spam accounts) lists zero posts. I assume that the names are being left in place to slow or block account creation...

Re: Spamming

Thanks again Oldfart1939 for the heads up on this poster Afriepsy as he had the time to create a new topic and make 26 posts all about the same thing......
I think that the front end spam guard may need to be put back up or add some more moderators for making sure that the forum stay protected more hours of the day than I am on.....

Re: Spamming

SpaceNut-

This is a much more serious and professional forum than most. It therefore doubly annoys me to see this sort of crap pop up here.

Re: Spamming

I do try to keep it going that way but I can not say the same for all of the members with how they post.

To get to Mars will take a team that is diverse in capabilities to not only aid in making it happen but also for the crew that goes as we will need all types of skills.

Re: Spamming

Sorry guy's I saw that these spammer had trashed the board but due to being at work I could not do anything about it until I got home.

I repeat my request again from post #9

I think that the front end spam guard may need to be put back up or add some more moderators for making sure that the forum stay protected more hours of the day than I am on.....

This could damage the forums files system if this continues, so I hope back ups are being done regularly....

Spacenut:

The rest of us very much appreciate your efforts to deal with spammers.  There is definitely an upsurge in this activity.  I notice at least some is coming from Russia.  One of them is obsessed with pineapples,  of all things.

I second the appreciation. And I also noticed the pineapples. Why? Was that just a test to see if we were able to read it?
