Re: President Bush - about bush

How?  Last I checked, it's two consecutive terms.  I'd like to see that amendment.  As far as I know, after an interrupting term, Clinton could very well run again.

Re: President Bush - about bush

Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.

Hmm, this is odd. I thought it was George Bush Sr. who put in the term limit! I'm trying to figure out where that idea came from.

Re: President Bush - about bush

It came from FDR's many terms in office.  They did not want a monarchy-like presidency.  That's when the law was passed.  1947 (ratified in the 50s).  I think it is interpreted as consecutive terms, however.

No, it is not. The word consecutive isn't in there at all. I'm sure the Democrats (or anyone whome it would benefit) would like to think that it's consecutive, but it simply isn't.

Re: President Bush - about bush

yes funny, but I am not in the mood to laugh however.
As you know, the time is not anymore for critism, especially from the inside of the USA, especially not from senators. It doesn't matter now who is right or wrong and who possesses the truth.
Any cristism is irrelevant.
I'm gonna watch TV tonight, like all of us, for it is the d-day.

Re: President Bush - about bush

My understanding is we have already begun the invasion.

Troops have already begun to march into Iraq, with the first thrust expected to reach Baghdad in two to three days.

Re: President Bush - about bush

Those of you who pray, I ask you to pray for my brother, and all our service-men.

28 Iraqi's have already surrendered. Hopefully it goes more like this. If I were an Iraqi and I knew what the US was capable of, I wouldn't fight.

What I find, well, both sad, and funny in a way, is that the US will drop a ten thousand dollar bomb one one person (I can link you to military videos where we've bombed several people from the air, over a dozen very large bombs to get less then five people- it's pathetic), but we wouldn't give even a tenth of that to many of our children for health care and education.

It's funny how one side wants to spend money on big government, and the other side wants to spend money on big military. Although these days it seems both sides like the idea of big military.

Re: President Bush - about bush

Why is President Bush Ignoring the thousands of protesters that are against this war? That's not very democratic is it? Isn't there an election for president next year? Ignoring the thousands of protesters won't get him re-elected.

*My thoughts and concerns are definitely with the soldiers in Iraq [U.K. and Aus included].  Of course, I wish there were no need for any one of them to be there.  This situation is rattling my nerves...so, Josh, do know that I feel for you, your brother and all others.  As close as I can get to praying -- you've got it.

I sincerely hope your brother returns safe and sound.

Re: President Bush - about bush

Thanks Cindy, I really appreciate your thoughts. I'm not              much of a prayer myself, but I do believe in well wishes, and, well, karma, if you will, so it can't hurt, right? smile
