Did you move us to a new host Adrian?
I recall you mentioning that bandwidth was getting eaten up... I hope things are well in that area.

The downtime was due to billing problems on our account, but all is well now and it shouldn't happen again (at least, not any time soon). Bandwidth is still looking good - we use up about 200MB per day, last time I looked, which is actually quite a lot but less than half our capacity.

Wow, that's amazing, truely. 200MB a day! It must be all the frequent refreshes (sometimes, when I'm not busy, I'll refresh several times every five minutes or so).
I'll lay back on the refreshes, at the least.

Hey, you don't have to worry about refreshing. Like I said, the average bandwidth usage per day is 200MB per day. We have a 500MB cap, so we're nowhere near using it all up. The most we've used this year is 340MB, so the website can take quite a hammering. The only thing I'm mildly concerned about is disk space on the website (260MB out of 400MB is currently used) but that will only become a problem in maybe half a year, and in any case it's my own fault for having so much junk lying around.
On a more general note, I'm as ever, very happy with the way these forums are coming along. We have a lot of traffic these days and it seems that there's always someone new signing up every day. I have no idea where these people are coming from, but it's all good. I'm hoping to write some more articles about the things happening on this forum eventually. And who knows, if I make it to the 2003 convention I'll try and give a talk about New Mars forums.

adrian, maybe you could move some of the older posts onto a backup hard drive or server?
Offline
Yeah, I could do that, but I don't really want to. Disk space is not a problem at all, there's probably at least 100MB of junk (old redundant backups and decaying programs) lying around that I could get rid of easily. Nah, the biggest problem this forum faces is my laziness :;):
