The launch of the Mars Science Laboratory "Curiosity" rover is currently scheduled for 10:02 AM Eastern time, tomorrow. I know I'll be around to watch it. Perhaps we should all meet on the newmars IRC channel (#newmars) while we watch it on Nasa TV? I figure we'll want to meet on IRC around 9:30, for whoever's watching.
For those who are not familiar with IRC, it is essentially a group chat application. To use it, you can either download an IRC program, or simply go to http://webchat.freenode.net/, put in your desired username, fill out the ReCATCHPA, and then once you are into the system type "/join #newmars" and it will take you to the newmars IRC channel. It uses very low bandwith so even those of us on dial-up should be perfectly fine.
