Venus Express and MESSENGER to look at Venus in tandem

On 6 June this year, scientists all around the world will be watching with eager eyes as not one but two spacecraft observe Venus simultaneously.
ESA’s Venus Express, in orbit around Venus since 11 April 2006, will be joined for a few hours by NASA’s MESSENGER (MErcury Surface Space ENvironment GEochemistry and Ranging mission), flying by Venus while on its way to Mercury.

Rather than post this in the atmospheric threads as it could also relate the twin express probes have been watching the solar wind errosion of both Venus and Mars atmospher.

Interesting process, does this mean that some of the Venusian atmosphere reaches Earth?
Good question. I assume same could be said for Earth & Mars but obviously the gap is longer. I doubt it since this is just a trickle of ioninzed gas were talking about - probably after a few million miles it gets thinned out by the solar wind to point wher Earth is only 'smattered' by a few Venusian atoms out of several trillion or so.

After eight years in orbit, ESA’s Venus Express has completed routine science observations and is preparing for a daring plunge into the planet’s hostile atmosphere.
Venus Express was launched on a Soyuz–Fregat from the Russian Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on 9 November 2005, and arrived at Venus on 11 April 2006.
It has been orbiting Venus in an elliptical 24-hour loop that takes it from a distant 66 000 km over the south pole – affording incredible global views – to an altitude of around 250 km above the surface at the north pole, close to the top of the planet’s atmosphere.
Conversely, a separate study found that the rotation of the planet had slowed by 6.5 minutes since NASA’s Magellan, which completed its 5-year mission at Venus 20 years ago, measured it.
