Re: Searching and finding NewMars

Searching inside the MewMars forums is so awkward, if only the search engine would show the matching post and not the entire thread! Am i missing something here?

Finding NewMars is becoming harder on Google. Because of the problems above I tried using google to find messages, for example NewMars Mars Direct only returns a reference to the Wiki and nothing from NewMars sad  - somehow UMSF and NSF get indexed. What's up Josh?

Re: Searching and finding NewMars

If you use the specifier

site:newmars.com

in google, e.g.,

mars direct site:newmars.com

then you'll get a whole lot more results.

Re: Searching and finding NewMars

So it does! Thanks.

I see that other sites have a google search bar usually with an option for web or site based searching, perhaps this is one way of doing it.

Re: Searching and finding NewMars

Yeah, it's hard for a php search to beat google.  Shouldn't require a bunch of coding effort either ...

Re: Searching and finding NewMars

Another few thoughts.

If a google search bar was added, perhaps google would index more frequently and NewMars would move up the hit list.

Apparently google analytic tools provide good stats, anyone used them?

A copy message to another topic feature would be very useful. There are lots of scattered messages that ought to be included in other topics or merged into new topics. For example the Mars mission architecture would make an important new topic as NASA will be releasing the results of their ongoing study on this and there are messages all over the forum about it.

Finally the NewMars wiki link on the forum main page needs restoring.
