Solar is very low. I am sure we can better on that in the future. We are still awaiting the thin film revolution there, but I am confident it will come.

There will be more scope for wind energy, especially as floating wind turbines are built. We can probably improve on the efficiency of current land wind turbines when their turbines are renewed.

It's surprised how low our hydro power is, given we are such a hilly and rainy country. Not sure much can be done about that, but cheaper tunnelling (cf Musk's Boring Company) might help in the future. Likewise more geothermal may come onstream.

We should be getting up to 70% for electricity by the end of the decade...But of course electricity usage will be expanding hugely as we switch to electric cars, trucks and trains.

Reduction in battery costs will enable us to make use of wind energy when it is in surplus. That could be significant.

Manufacture of artificial methane will enable us to begin substituting carbon neutral methane for what is called here "natural gas".
