I have TP I only used once... you can have that at a very reasonable price.

Speaking of podcasts and web audio has anyone played this yet?

Radio Mars - an original drama

I posted a link a few months ago, but forgot which thread it was.

Re: I'll take malaprops for *5* Bob - Apropos of Nothing continues. . .

It snowed last night. I guess I shouldn't be surprised; it was actually fall weather longer than usual. The astronomy club had their telescopes set-up at "The Forks" on Friday, a very nice up-scale mall and public gathering place. It was more chilly than I expected, I guess I shouldn't been surprised since it's November. Last Thursday was the first day it was truly cold. However, last night we got about a foot of fluffy, wet snow with drifts higher. My arms are tired from shovelling the side walk and drive way. This is the first snow that will stay for the winter; since it's November 15 I guess I shouldn't complain. We had a couple extra weeks of fall weather. At least during the last month I got to mow the lawn, trim the tree and dispose of the trimmings, discard the apples fallen to the ground, and pick the grapes. My neighbour didn't use the grapes on her side of the fence so let me pick them, my big primary fermenter is almost full and bubbling away. At least I got to prepare my yard for snow, but it means another summer is finally dead.

My cat is asking to go outside. I don't understand, she disappeared all day Sunday and all night. When she showed up Monday afternoon she was limping. She's still limping, favouring one leg. I don't see any damage and she's able to climb the stairs, but doesn't she realize it's a lot better idea to heal before going out again? Especially with cold, frozen ground. Last spring she came home one day after being gone for an equal time with a terrible wound and smelling of dog. She had a patch of skin torn away and tooth marks on the opposite side of her body. It cost me more than $900 in vet bills to get her sewn up. I didn't let her out all summer; only let her out in the fall. Now that she's limping I really don't want to take her back to the vet, but I'm inclined to keep her inside. I'm glad I got her the full suite of shots, both for indoor and outdoor cats. She may like playing with her friends, all the neighbour's cats come looking for her, but I don't want to pay big bucks for another vet bill.

Maybe I am repeating myself, but I do like this sig. Makes me think about Cobra.

Smith and Wesson, the original "Point and Click" (and soon to be illegal in SF) interface.

Glad I saw a CC post recently, I thought he left on us! I guess the political thread dying down made him bored. wink

I've also been missing in action, arguing space politics elsewhere. Needed a break after our recent dust-up.

tacitus.org also has some great civilized (but snarky) political debate.

You're just annoyed that I took the "politics are secondary to all other NewMars topics" policy, aren't you? Admit it!  lol

But it is good to see you. Look at the Human Missions forum, lots and lots of activity there, just as it should be!

Re: I'll take malaprops for *5* Bob - Apropos of Nothing continues. . .

I read somewhere that JIMO (or at least the nuclear propulsion portion) has been removed from the budget.

Was that my bet with clark or Josh Cryer's bet?

That was your bet. BTW, clark conceeded the bet with me, but he still hasn't paid up. Tsk tsk.

Radio Mars is a hoot!

Only 2 minutes in the show and I'm already laughing myself silly...

"No-one is terraforming Mars!"  lol

EDIT: looks like this will be a one-off, though...

Besides Josh, you've told me that you want vodka, California wine, and of course, our original bet was for champaigne. I'll have it to you before New Years.

Bill, give a link because last I heard, JIMO is a seperate project from VSE, which was slated to be a test bed for nuclear propulsion. The Nuclear propulsion piece is being scaled back under VSE and greater focus is being geared towards nuclear power production.

Instead of engines, power plants. It has more immediate benefits to work on the Moon.

Oooooooohhhh....!
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
da, dah-dah-dah-dah
comin' home from our house Christmas eve
da, dah-dah-dah-dah
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
da, dah-dah-dah-dah
but as for me and Grandpa, we believe!

*Time for another New Mars Holiday Sing-Along!   big_smile

Jingle jingle jingle!
You will hear my sleigh bells ring
I am old Kris Kringle
I'm the King of Jingaling!

Jingle, jangle, reindeer
through the frosty air they go
they are not just plain deer,
they're the fastest deer I know!

Oh-ho!

You must believe that on Christmas Eve
I won't pass you by
I'll dash away in my magic sleigh,
flying through the sky!

Jingle jingle jingle!
You will hear my sleigh bells ring
I am old Kris Kringle,
I'm the King of Jingaling!

*It's New Mars Holiday Sing-Along time again.  big_smile

x03_frosty_111203.jpg

Frosty the Snowman
Was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal

Frosty the Snowman
Is a fairytale they say
He was made of snow
But the children know
How he came to life one day

There must have been some magic
In that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around

00000011.gif

Frosty the Snowman
Was alive as he could be
And the children say
He could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me

Frosty the Snowman
Knew the sun was hot that day
So he said 'let's run
And we'll have some fun
Now before I melt away!'

Down to the village
With a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there all around the square
Saying 'catch me if you can!'

00000013.gif

He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
And he only paused a moment when
He heard him holler "STOP!"

Frosty the Snowman
Had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye
Saying 'don't you cry
I'll be back again some day!'

Re: I'll take malaprops for *5* Bob - Apropos of Nothing continues. . .

*Another two of my favorite holiday songs:

Christmas time is here
happiness and cheer
fun for all
that children call
their favorite time of year.

00000033.gif

Snowflakes in the air
carols everywhere
olden times
and ancient rhymes,
and love and dreams to share.

00000059.gif

Sleigh bells in the air
beauty everywhere
yuletide
by the fireside,
and joyful memories there.

Christmas time is here
we'll be drawing near
oh that we
could always see
such spirit through the year...

00000035.gif

-*-

Silver and gold, silver and gold,
Ev'ryone wishes for silver and gold
How do you measure its worth?
Just by the pleasure it gives here on earth.

Silver and gold, silver and gold
Means so much more when I see
Silver and gold decorations
On ev'ry Christmas tree.

00000031.gif

::What's a Christmas tree without tinsel and pretty silver and gold decorations?
Can't really call it a Christmas tree, now can you?
And think of all the fun and joy that would be lost on Christmas morning
if all the young folks didn't get to see that sparkling happy tree.::

Silver and gold, silver and gold
Means so much more when I see
Silver and gold decorations
On ev'ry Christmas tree.
