N.Y. Gov. Cuomo to act soon on two bills aimed squarely at Trump

one aimed at making it easier for Congress to obtain the president's state tax returns and the other seeking to curb his pardon power to ensure that they are drafted correctly and do what they say they do.

Re: Emolument Clause

SpaceNut,

I hear a train coming, too.  It's loaded with bovine excrement.  After the next train wreck, it'll be plastered all over the faces of the Democrats- just like the last train load of bovine excrement from the Russian collusion hoax.  I enjoy watching the Democrats wallow in their own crap, though.  It's obvious to everyone but them that they're all out of ideas and it's readily apparent that they're incapable of governing, so they incessantly denigrate the very few people who are in any way possible.  That said, I'm sure President Trump still enjoys the free 24/7 media coverage.  It'd be utterly amazing if they could actually put forth some better policies, but I guess they're not capable of that.  I particularly enjoyed the full-on crazy from the Climate Change Townhall from CNN.  Spending 93 trillion dollars, in conjunction with "The Green New Deal", doesn't go far enough, according to Joe Biden.

This should have happened along time ago but we all know that the senate will not follow through but will block all further action.  A draft resolution by Democrats Plan Vote to Formalize Procedures for Impeachment Investigation

Appeals court rejects Trump bid to keep financial records from House, The House Oversight and Reform Committee issued a subpoena in April for Trump's financial

The tax returns of Donald Trump have been the subject of controversy for the past several years, particularly over them having not been made public despite his political career. Before Trump announced his candidacy for president, he had offered in 2011, 2014 and 2015 to release his tax returns. During his presidential campaign, Trump first said he would release his returns after they were "worked on", then Trump claimed that, because the returns were being audited, he could not make them public, but would do so. No law actually prevents tax returns from being released due to an audit, as emphasized by the Commissioner of Internal Revenue. Further on during his campaign, he said that voters were not interested in his returns, "there's nothing to learn from them", and that his tax rate is "none of your business".

Re: Emolument Clause

This case is inching forward slowly with Judge tosses Trump suit over New York tax returns, rejects conspiracy claim

In his lawsuit, Trump sued to preemptively block the House Ways and Means Committee from requesting the returns, New York Attorney General Letitia James from enforcing the law, and to stop the New York Department of Taxation from furnishing the documents. Trump argued his lawsuit was necessary to prevent his state returns from being disclosed to Congress before a court could hear his opposition.
In his lawsuit, Trump's attorneys argued that the state law was simply an effort to get information about his personal finances to embarrass him politically. It asked the court to provide a declaratory judgment that the House Ways and Means Committee "lacks a legitimate legislative purpose for obtaining the President's state tax information."
The legislation states that any "legitimate task" of Congress is a valid reason to make the request, should efforts to obtain the returns at the federal level be stonewalled by the Treasury Department. New York state tax filings are not identical to the federal returns, but contain much of the same information.

Neal's committee is tied up in separate legislation over Trump's tax returns with the Treasury Department, which has refused to provide Trump's federal returns to the panel. Neal sued the IRS and the Treasury Department over the returns citing a section of tax law that states the Treasury secretary "shall furnish" to congressional tax committees "any return or return information" request by its chairman. The legislation states that any "legitimate task" of Congress is a valid reason to make the request, should efforts to obtain the returns at the federal level be stonewalled by the Treasury Department. New York state tax filings are not identical to the federal returns, but contain much of the same information.

Re: Emolument Clause

Since taking office the question of taxes have been a continued fight as his tax standing for the foundation in NY was closed and that is why we are in the mode to further prove and impeachable crime was commited. House Committee on Oversight and Reform's investigation into Trump's business dealings. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance's subpoena for similar Trump records as the New York City prosecutor investigates hush-money payments to two women who said they had sexual affairs with Trump before his 2016 White House win. Which both have been proven to be true...

The Supreme Court's order is the latest development in two legal battles over access to years of Trump's tax returns and financial records for both him and his businesses. The Supreme Court on Monday ordered a continuing legal block on a powerful House committee's access to years of President Donald Trump's tax returns and financial records from his longtime accounting firm. The decision gave Trump legal hope after lower courts ruled against him and left the Supreme Court as his last chance to shield his records from being examined.

Congressional Oversight can not be done if they are obstructed for the duty to the american People to monitor actions of the president and others.
