For Mars_B4_Moon .... over the weekend, I caught a report on Chinese citizens (or more accurately ** one ** such citizen) bringing his young daughter with him on a very risky journey through Central America to the Mexican border, and on into the US. This individual was persecuted in China because he is a Christian, and made the mistake of leaving a Bible out in view on the car seat, when he was stopped for a minor traffic violation. The gent and his daughter survived and are living in the US. He is sending a small amount of money home to his wife and other children. He isn't making a lot of money, but he seems satisfied that he can criticize something without being persecuted. On the other hand, apparently he isn't in the mood to criticize much of anything. It's just the thought of being ** able ** to that he likes.

Whom is the one that controls the US border seems to be a national security issue as the Texas governor is blocking border patrol from doing their job. As far as I can see a state is in control of state-to-state borders that do not overlap the territorial US borders.

Republicans Just Proved They Don't Want a Border Solution

Last week, Oklahoma Republican Senator James Lankford was tasked by Mitch McConnell to negotiate a bipartisan compromise to fix the issues at the southern border and the asylum system overall. Lankford negotiated a sweeping package of reforms and additional funding with Chuck Schumer, only to see it summarily rejected by Speaker Johnson and House Republicans before they even had the details.
The problem for House Republicans and their Orange Master is that their voting base has been fed a steady diet of propaganda that has them in full panic mode over the brown people. Trump has told them as many as 12 million migrants have entered the country in the last 3 years, and they are all terrorists, rapists, murderers and drug traffickers who have come from prisons and mental institutions around the world.
So, the base wants something done now to stop what they have been told is happening. That is why Republican leaders are spending so much time trying to convince their own voters that there is nothing in the new compromise that will stem the flow of migrants or increase deportations.

It also has just 115 ports of entry - compared with the Southern Border's 330 - meaning massive swathes are understaffed, and are perfect places for opportunists to pass through.

Built the fence and increase staff to get same miles to entry port ratio. Increase state border staffing which is none to capture escapes.
