Orbital Mars Mission simulator

Lets say we launched a Mars hab into Low Earth orbit and attached it to a tether or boom to a counterweight on the other side, and then rotated the whole assembly such that those in the Mars hab experience Mars gravity, this would be a Much more modest space station than the Station V from 2001 A Space Odyssey. The radius of the structure would be large enough so that astronauts can perceive no difference between the upper and lower floors of the hab. The fake windows of the hab would show a Martian landscape with Martian levels of daylight streaming through the windows. To go outside, astronauts would put in space suits, this visors would show the virtual martian landscape, and force feed back on their legs and arms would give them then sensation of walking on solid ground through their boots, and picking up Martian rocks through their gloves, time delays between the hab and mission control would simulate the distance between Mars and Earth. Astronauts can practice growing food in this simulated Martian environment, and if something were to go wrong, they could immediatelu abandon the station and head right back to Earth, iron out the troubles in advance of actually making the trip to Mars.
