Re: New Mars Malware/Google Stamp of Disapproval

Josh notified me, I contacted the admin but Google is still showing it. Not sure what's up. I can't find the malware in the HTML code, it must be somewhere deeper than I have access to. No idea when it will be resolved. Traffic seemed to be picking back up too...

I cant seem to find any error in the posts they have flagged in Google Webmaster Tools.  I requested that they re-review the site.  I will stay on this until they remove the flag.

I was talking about that on MarsDrive. I ignored the warnings and went on t˙is site anyway, and no cookies, no difference.

Re: New Mars Malware/Google Stamp of Disapproval

The problem is <script type="text/javascript" src="/statcounter.js"></script>. It's an encrypted .js file that I can't tell what it does. I don't think it actually installs malware, I think it just feeds hits somewhere.

Re: New Mars Malware/Google Stamp of Disapproval

We were hit by another one of these.  I went ahead and took down the forums so I could do a full cleanup of the newmars.com directory on the server.  I installed the newest FluxBB and restored the database.  We should be good now.

In the future you can report these types of issues to webmaster@marssociety.org -- that will open a ticket and somebody on the web team for the Mars Society (me included) will take a look at it.

Thanks,
-James
