http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/ppgstyle/]Vote for Marie B. for "Blossom"
*Found this at spacedaily.com, alongside an article about Saturn. She is a finalist to play a real-life "Powerpuff Girl."
This is the http://www.spacedaily.com/news/cassini- … edaily.com web page.
Good luck to her.

*Sorry!
I neglected to mention you've got to click on "Model Search" in the upper right-hand corner. (Hey...it was before 6:00 a.m. when I first posted! Still drowsy, lol) Directions to the voting page were given in the 2nd link I posted, though.
I clicked "skip intro," which took me to the 2nd page with the "Model Search" link.
Whoa...now they're saying "the votes are in" and the winner will be announced October 15.
Well...I tried! Just saw this item this morning; guess this was the final day of voting (that wasn't indicated at the web site or I was still in desperate need of caffeine at that point, but I didn't see it).
:hm:
I saw the tally after I voted and Marie B. was in 2nd place at that time.

Ah, Cindy's signiture's pic.
I didn't change my sig for about a year after I joined, but a couple of days ago I finally replaced it with the Paul Simon quote. It comes from the Joe Dimaggio verse in "Mrs. Robinson," I just felt it particularly applicable to what's going on in politics right now.
I suppose we all do crazy things before we actually wake up, but I'm not sure I understand what this is about. It's some sort of Powerpuff Girls contest? What exactly is a "spacer kid?"
But hey, if the link came from spacedaily there must be something to it. :;):

*Hi MGS: Yes. Three girls (they all looked to be about 9 years old) are finalists to play "Blossom." I scanned the site just briefly, basically darting in to read the bit of personal info about each candidate and voting for Marie (Marie B. is a Girl Scout whose troop cooks once a month for a group of elderly folks, apparently, etc...). I'm not sure of the exact purpose -- maybe the "real-life" Powerpuff Girls will travel to malls and host publicity events, make appearances on the Cartoon Network?
"Spacer kid" is apparently spacedaily.com's term for kids interested in space exploration and etc. She's referred to as a "space cadet"

Probably just me, but *all* this stuff sounds totally incoherent.. spacer kids, powrpuff girls...
Tried to google it, but all i got was more confusion: powerpuff is some kind of cartoon?
What's this got to do with MARS? (or spaceflight )

*"Powerpuff Girls" is a cartoon. I'm not familiar with it (other than for merchandise and advertisements).
Marie B. is a girl who is competing to win the role of a Powerpuff Girl named "Blossom." Marie B. is apparently interested in space exploration and etc., because she is called a "Spacer Kid."
Spacedaily.com hosted a link to Marie's involvement in the "Powerpuff Girls" competition because she -is- interested in space exploration.
But apparently the voting ended yesterday and just hours after I created this thread! Oh well. Good luck to Marie; the winner of the contest will be announced in October.
I was hoping to drum up a few votes for Marie B., as she is interested in space exploration.

When my daughter was younger, she would watch Powerpuff Girls as much as we would allow.

*I've seen "The Powerpuff Girls" in real life. Well, sort of.
Two or three years ago, a restaurant owner (now out of business) dressed up as the blond Powerpuff Girl for Halloween. Two employees dressed up as the other Girls.
Karl is of Viking stock, nearly 6' 3" tall and probably weighing in at 230 pounds. We walked in and there he was -- in a pink girlie outfit, blue eyeshadow and a blond curly wig on his head.
They took pics of he and the other two with their arms up in the air, like they were about to take off flying.
