Re: What if Mars Had a Large Moon

Scenario

If in the beginning (over 5 billion years ago)…Mars had a moon closely resembling earths moon, Created at the same time as the earth and our moon

Mars has the visual presence of liquid water at one time in its history
Possibly oceans, maybe just large rivers….the size of the moon it originally had would make the water react differently

A large moon could stabilize mars’ climate
possibly similar to earths, warm enough to have the presence of liquid water
It would also stabilize the planet’s axis  allowing possible magnetic poles and radiation belts around the planet helping repel radiation from the planets surface similarly to how earth is protected, and helping maintain a life supporting atmosphere

Mars has the time to create life just as earth…weather only microbes, or possibly evolution the same or similar to earth, even more of a fetch…intelligent life…hey it worked for us!

Something happens to mars’ moon.  It is struck by something huge

Mars moon literally explodes shooting debris into the planet and off into space

Some of that debris orbiting out in space, eventually hitting earth as ‘mars meteors’ found by science

The initial impact of the moon debris hitting mars is enough to destroy any and all forms of life

At least one huge impact on the planet causes biggest volcano on mars

Only phobos and demos are left

Without a large moon, mars can’t keep its axis controlled, and looses its radiation belts allowing the planet to be bombarded with radiation

If earth would endure the same fait with our moon, after time, would we would look very similar to the current mars?

Is this a possibility?  Could there have been life on mars if  they had a large moon?
