*Supernova first noticed by astronomers on October 9, 1604.  Telescope wouldn't be invented for another 4 years.

Spitzer, Hubble, Chandra, etc., doing indepth studies of this supernova.  Have been 6 known SN in the Milky Way in the past 1000 years, the article says (only 6?  :hm:...skeptical).
