NASA Selects Contractor for First Prometheus Mission to Jupiter
http://www.spaceref.com/news/viewpr.htm … ?pid=15082
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Pasadena, Calif., selected Northrop Grumman Space Technology, Redondo Beach, Calif., as the contractor for co-designing the proposed Prometheus Jupiter Icy Moons Orbiter (JIMO) spacecraft. The contract award is for approximately $400 million, covering work through mid-2008.
We've come a long way since an idle bet. :;):
Tidbits from the press release:
Northrop will be building and integrating the non-nuclear portion of JIMO.
NASA is responsible for the launch, and the Department of Energy's Office of Naval Reactors, Washington, will own and be responsible for the space reactor.
This is all part of the basis for the Vision of Space Exploration (VSE), since JIMO will be the test bed by which we evaluate nuclear reactor's for manned exploration.

Ah, thanks for the directions.
Here is a link to the ongoing thread, it would seem I am a day late in my announcement! Feel free to carry on here, or there, or where ever.
