I thought I'd point out that the image on the MS main site is not the Orion Nebula. That's a galaxy. Someone might fix the error.

*Oh brother. ???
I've been accessing these message boards via the New Mars address directly, so I didn't see the MS web site. This sort of blunder doesn't reflect very well on a society geared around space exploration, astronomy, etc.

LOL, yeah I'm not so sure anymore I'd want to go to Mars on an MS ship considering they were about 2 million light years off course.

Very strange that that happened, considering that the correct name of the image is in the linked story itself. Anyway, I've emailed the MS webmaster about the goof so it should be sorted out soon, hopefully.

Hmm, Cindy, I guess I corrupted you with my suggestion about accessing the NewMars forums from the NewMars site, eh?
Sorry 'bout that, hehe. I usually read the MS site once a week... I'm awful.

*Hi Josh. Yes, you corrupted me!
Actually, I alternate between the MS web site and New Mars; lately I've been taking the latter route just for the heck of it.

Soph: Yeah, I just got an email back from Harold Miller, the MS webmaster, who says that the news item is factually accurate - which it is; it never actually *says* that the image is of the Orion Nebula. I replied to him that while it was accurate, it's still a bit confusing and he might want to say that the image shown is of the Whirlpool Galaxy.
