Re: VSE/CEV lunar lander propulsion - discussion

Hey all,

Wondering if people have any thoughts about the lunar lander/ascender module on whatever new stack is selected. I've seen very little specific mention of possible module design and mission profiles thus far (if I've missed something some directions would be appreciated). More specifically, if the module is required to stay on the lunar surface for some time, it will have to have considerable internal volume (inflatable?). Does all the habitable volume stay on the surface, or does it return to lunar or earth orbit? What about engine choice, staging (Apollo or LK style?) etc etc? Obviously you REALLY want those engines to work - are we talking about a revival of Apollo era hypergolics here? What other options are there?

Phil
