http://www.tomshardware.com/hardnews/20 … html]Users should not expect the technology to be real-time capable until 2015

With raw camera pixel resolution of http://www.planetary.org/news/2004/spir … 7.html]1/2 meter,
numeric techniques can considerably improve by using multiple images.

Lot of research is being conducted and we should have good images in time for landing on Mars.

Re: Super Resolution - More Accurate Pictures

I'm not really sure where you want to go with this...

Superresolution is not new, a lot of amateur astronomers use it, for instance...
Oh, and sojourner pics were treated the superresolution treatment, too, leading to Hoagwash seeing even *more* alien artifacts big_smile

Come to think of it, I seem to recall we had a thread running about Superresolution... Or it was on Doug's site...

Ok, more on topic: I guess you mean use SR for the pics that are being taken *NOW*? I think they try, but it is not always really useful.
Say, orbit one, pic of place x taken, some time later, another pic of same place, but then the lighting is different, giving you all kinds of headaches.
Although, even that can be useful, you'd get some extra info about elevation that way...
