The "Angry Astronaut" has started a 2 part series based on what NASA has just released as a possible new plan for the colonization of Mars.
I just finished watching the first episode and it seems that NASA may have read some of the stuff from this website, especially the crew size for a first manned mission (between 10 and maybe 20 astronauts).
I do recommend this video, as it isn't too hand-wavey, and contains some well thought out commentary.
