Hello
My name is Nathan Forst and I moderate for Red Colony. Since this website has put the Red Colony mars pic of the day on I came here to see what the Mars Society is all about.

Nice of you to drop in, Nathan,
The Mars Society is all about exploring and colonising Mars - preferably sooner rather than later!
If you look into some of the topics here, though, you could be forgiven for thinking this is nothing more than a political arena!!
But then, there's a bit of a lull in the amount of new data coming in from Mars probes at present, a situation which we hope will be remedied by about Christmas. So some people tend to turn to politics, I think, to fill in time.
In any event, there's a lot of interesting stuff in many of our threads and I'm sure you'll find something to your liking if you look around.
Have fun!

Hey there Nathan, I think I recall some of your posts over at Red Colony.
Good to have you aboard.

*Hi Nathan. I really like the Earth/Mars Tao [logo] at redcolony. Very cool.
Welcome to New Mars!

*True. I'd suggest Nathan check the older threads, from roughly June to October 2002; those generally had more Mars-oriented discussions, and less current-events political discussions [not that I mind political conversations, btw; I've gotten involved in some of them myself].

There are probably more philosophical threads than their are political. It's hard to avoid philosophy when you're on a science forum.
I'm kind of shamed a majority of my posts are probably with regard to some sort of philosophy or another, and don't have direct relation to Mars, but oh well.

Tell me about it! Over at Red Colony alot of our discussions have turned to "Off Topic" discussions. We have a few on topic discussions...but most of them are terraforming theory. I hope the upcoming probe mission to Mars will give us ALOT more data. I think during lauch and after both Red Colony and New Mars will have an influx of people.
