Re: Putin's Russian expanding to be the old USSR

I have seen more vids on social media feeds, I'm not sure if the footage is real it could be from another date or time but when you see multiple vids from local people at many different angles then something real must be happening and they are losing a lot of tanks.

Their new Tank will be exposed as useless Junk? Lower Horsepower, gets stuck inside mud, can't Reverse, Less Speed, Counter Attack defense Systems Don't Work? Russians had 600 + new T-90s in service but production was then halted

However they might not lost that other Big Ship?
A different Ship was hit or journalists were posting Disinfo?

it was however spotted sailing on the Russian side of the sea closer to home

Another report says the real ship hit was a different vessel attacked near Snake Island was actually a Serna-class landing craft

a Long Long List of Lost Naval Ships, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Helicopters, Tanks....some seem to have been damaged or captured by local farmers, Radar systems Captured, Jammers And Deception Systems taken out, SAMs destroyed or abandoned by Soliders with Low Morale who quit their post or once again Russian Surface to Air Missiles captured by Rebels and Farmers.

'Invincible' Russian tank equipped with exploding armour destroyed by Ukrainian troops
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/ … destroyed/

Russia debut its T-90M tank 'Breakthrough-3' in combat for the first time during its invasion of Ukraine but analysts are underwhelmed

The T-90M is an updated version of the T-90 and is kitted out with the latest Russian military equipment. Ukrainian soldiers have destroyed hundreds of Russian tanks with shoulder-mounted missiles, including NLAWs supplied by Britain, but the T-90M was supposed to be impregnable because of its exploding armour.
It also carries a self-deploying smokescreen that triggers if it detects that a laser beam has been fired at it, a net across its turret to deflect missiles and "slat armour" on its rear to defend against grenades.

While the Russians had a nice clownshow parade in Moscow, the Ukrainians held their own fireworks blowing up Russia's hyped modernized T-90s to support them?

Most of what Russia puts on the battlefield is getting blasted. The Russian Army initially planned to acquire new 'Armata' Tanks ? between 2015 and 2020. Production and fiscal shortfalls delayed this to maybe three years time in Year 2025 or maybe with Sanctions they will Never Get a Tank? BTR-70 and BMP-2 and BMP 1 seem to be designs from the 60s or 70s, Most of Russians New Tanks seem to be old T-72 given a new paint job?

Does Turkey, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Chile, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Haiti, Iran, Belarus, Kenya, Myanmar, Romania, Cuba, Argentina, Malaysia and India now build better Tanks and Armoured fighting vehicle than Russians?

Very little difference between a T-90 and old Soviet T-72? T-72A got upgraded to T-72B, Tanks Share the same laylout designs, T-72 and T-90 have the same suspension layout with six large evenly spaced roadwheels, the old T-80 from the Chechnya war was a better Tank? They sell and even lesser dumbed down version of the Tank to Algeria, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, India and Venezuela. They all go boom the same?

Re: Putin's Russian expanding to be the old USSR

In general, there's nothing overly-impressive about the T-72 / T-80 / T-90 series of tanks, apart from the price tag.  Relative to western-designed MBTs, eastern-designed MBTs are more affordable in terms of purchase prices for the equipment and spare parts.  Fuel consumption is about the same or slightly worse than their western counterparts, ignoring gas turbine powered machines like the M1 Abrams that are an anomaly rather than the norm.  The eastern MBTs are not more comfortable for the crew to operate, nor more survivable during an attack.

A T-90 is only a credible threat to lesser vehicles such as APCs / IFVs / trucks, and it's gun is powerful enough to penetrate western MBTs from certain angles at close ranges, but it's not a credible threat when operated by Russians to anything but civilians.  They either don't follow their own training doctrine or don't have sufficient infantry to support their tanks.  Whenever the opposing infantry are armed with Javelins, then it's not a match for the infantry, either.

If we mounted a pair of Javelin missiles and a 30mm M230 chain gun on a tankette, somewhat smaller than the German Wiesel 1, then Russian MBTs would not be successful.  The lighter tankette would have the same or better cross-country mobility and speed, these can be mass-manufactured at low cost, fuel consumption is far less of an issue than any modern MBT or IFV, and they can take out any Russian IFV or APC type vehicle using their 30mm cannon.  Mass attacks by these vehicles will quickly blunt or obliterate Russian armored columns.  There will be some casualties because tankettes only protect against small arms fire and shell fragments, but the end result is a lot more costly for the Russians than it would be for the Ukrainians.

The western insistence on carrying multiple missile reloads, hundreds of cannon rounds, and including a troop compartment all rolled into the same vehicle / platform only makes sense when fighting a highly competent opponent with similar capabilities.  Since that doesn't describe Russia or China, there's no need to spend massive amounts of money on the vehicles themselves when a better plan would be to spend money on the offensive firepower provided by a powerful but lightweight armament that's proven capable of destroying pretty much any vehicle on a modern battlefield.  Switching doctrine to using small / light / highly mobile tankettes protected by infantry support will achieve what Russia has failed to achieve with massive armored columns and very little to no infantry support.

Re: Putin's Russian expanding to be the old USSR

Russia heading for defeat in Ukraine—former Chinese ambassador
https://www.newsweek.com/vladimir-putin … or-1705615
Chinese Gao Yusheng, a Central Asia specialist who served two years as ambassador to Ukraine between 2005 and 2007, spoke at a closed-door event hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences think tank, said a report by China's Phoenix News.

Gao Yusheng makes very candid comments on Putin's imperialist war.

Embarrassing comments?

Gao served under Xi Jinping's predecessor, Hu Jintao, and now no longer holds any position of influence in Beijing. His edited remarks were taken down within hours of going live...
Gao's scathing assessment of Russia includes a view that Moscow never truly recognized the independence of other former Soviet states, "and has frequently violated their territoriality and sovereignty."

"The failure of the Russian blitzkrieg and the failure to achieve a quick victory signaled the beginning of the Russian defeat," Gao said in his virtual remarks. He believes Putin's forces can't afford "a high-tech war costing hundreds of millions of dollars a day."

What military and economic advantages it did have over Ukraine have since been offset by Ukrainian resistance and effective aid from the West, Gao assesses.

The "generational difference" in Russia's weapons and military concepts compared to the U.S. and NATO have only made Moscow's disadvantages more pronounced

"This process has been exacerbated by Western economic sanctions which have damaged sectors of the Russian economy," said China's former envoy. "The so-called revival or revitalization of Russia under Putin's leadership is false; it simply does not exist."

Gao sees the next phase of the war as "likely to be more violent and intense," with Russian forces ordered to secure Crimea and the Donbas region in the east, while Ukraine grows increasingly determined to recover all its territory.

"The U.S., NATO and the EU have repeatedly affirmed their determination to defeat Putin," Gao said. "All of this suggests that the war will be fought until Russia is defeated and punished."

The result, Gao predicts, is that the Russian president will fail in his overriding foreign policy objective to maintain the Kremlin's "exclusive sphere of influence" over the former Soviet Union.

The ability to get across a simple bridge seems top be a real problem for the Russians Ukraine began a counteroffensive toward the eastern city of Izyum aimed at disrupting Russian supply lines into the Donbas region

We know that the Ukraine's are good at putting back together broken tanks to make use of them once more against the very enemies that once used them

After months in Europe, American military units sent to bolster NATO forces near the Ukrainian border are coming home.

The military announced on Friday that approximately 10,500 Army soldiers will be leaving stations in Germany, Romania and Poland.
Some of these troops had been deployed to Europe in early February ahead of Russia’s invasion, with thousands more joining once war broke out.The departing units will be replaced with fresh deployments who will pick up the NATO mission.

“These deployments are one-for-one unit replacements, which will leave our overall force posture in the region – approximately 100,000 – unchanged

The people who are in grave danger due to the Ukraine fiasco are the people of Africa and Asia who are dependent upon the wheat from the region.

With enough broken units , you get lucky sometimes that not all are broken in the same way and that you can reuse it to fight the enemy.

Seems we are sending some more short range rockets while news indicates that the Russians are now in control of 1/5 or 20% of the Ukraine areas closest to the sea and borders of Russia.

Putin has no men and no means to invade Poland. And even if he had the invasion of a NATO country would immediately trigger a WW3. So it is very unlikely  he will invade western Europe directly, but he is about to trigger a big famine in Africa and it's very likely western Europe will be soon  invaded by millions of hungry African migrants. We are in a very dire situation.

Thank you for post #248

It would appear that Mr. Putin could not possibly care less about the loss of human life, in Ukraine, in Russia itself, or anywhere on Earth.

In another topic, Mars_B4_Moon just opened a discussion of personality types that may be worth excluding from a Mars expedition.

It seems to me that Mr. Putin is an extreme example of a personality type that causes injury to the population of the Earth.

In Putin,  you are not dealing with any normal human personality,  not even one of the psychopathic types.  You are dealing with a clone of Adolf Hitler.  There is no rationality,  there is only ambition.  And a total disregard for others.  He will not stop until he is dead.  We've seen this before,  many times.
