#201 Re: Life on Mars » Biological evolution - prebiotic chemistry, biogenesis, evoluti » 2003-10-13 21:58:59

I am Christian myself and find physical evolution a theory simply based on linear thought.
Human life was created by a higher being wether
you believe it was a Supreme Being, Alien, or another universe.
The evidence is all their, you just have to look for it.

#202 Re: Terraformation » Mercury Terraformation? » 2003-10-11 08:50:59

Terraforming mercury interests me precisely because it is nearest to sun.

why ?

Do you realize how much O3 would be need for it 8).
The skys would be filled with a purple haze and a magnificent brillant Star taking up most of the sky.

O_O LIFE OMG.
Maybe... o_o meh don't listen to ramblings of a mad man but good job yikes.

#204 Re: Life on Mars » A dumb question. . . - from a liberal arts major :-) » 2003-10-06 14:00:09

According to scientist their is only Carbon based life-forms that really on Nitrogen,Oxygen, and heat hmm.
*Hopefully waits for the Titan probe to reveal some Nitrogen based life forms that breath methane.*

#205 Re: Life support systems » Food! - Marsians=vegetarians? » 2003-09-27 14:13:10

I wouldn't mind sharing my dome with a few  cows wink... well I wouldn't mind a dome next to my dome having a few cows in it(Think about: crap = nitrogen).
But yeah the first 20 years of Mars will be based on clean vegetable diets(and clean colons too . :;): ).

#206 Re: Life on Mars » If Perceival Lowell Had Been Right - Whether to help dying Mars civilization » 2003-09-27 08:40:59

It would hard to assist an alien people who probably do not exist anymore.
If intelligent life was created on Mars they wouldn't have the technology to survive, even if they did they probably evacuated they're planet than trying to save it.

#207 Re: Terraformation » Mercury Terraformation? » 2003-09-25 14:13:07

Well Mercury is a relatively small planet with no core/or little core right?
First we freeze(if any) the Mercurian core.
Then and probably the hardest but not impossible thing to do is move the planet farther from the sun.
After this is accomplished I have chosen an Idea that well basically goes against any terraformation theory yet,
We turn the majority of the planet into a flameball with a small "mantle".
Then we begin the long process of adding Asteroid material to the surface(after remove the ice for possible oceans and water for Venus).
Then we began building up an O? and O? atmosphere(much more O? than normal Oxygen).
Slowly we add common elements for plants, Nitrogen, Small Carbon Dioxide, and some Argon(I do believe we will need lights on the hellishly long night aye?).
Finally after centuries of work,
we conclude are amazing work by living their.
Sure it won't be a tropical paradise but It will show mans greatest achievement of all time.

#208 Re: Terraformation » What if there's life? - Should we terraform? » 2003-09-25 12:19:46

Any life there would die almost instantainously if we melted the poles.
I think we should search the permafrost for life and if we don't find any within the time it takes to build a "dome".
Then terraform away, if we begin terraforming and find life well then maybe they're searching for a suitable world?

#209 Re: Martian Politics and Economy » Nations or World Government on Mars - Nations or World Government? » 2003-09-25 12:10:21

Its human nature to divide into diffrent cultures and split into nations.
I believe a unified alliance between Martian nations would be more acceptable than a Martian Government.

#210 Re: Terraformation » Terraforming Venus - methods anyone? » 2003-09-25 12:08:05

I like Kim Robinsons idea up until the robots part.
When you think of it, Venus will just take longer than Mars,
it actually wouldn't be that difficult.
I personally would like to see some theories on Mercury "terraformation" besides my own.

#211 Re: Human missions » Faster methods of travel? - Ion Engines, Wormholes, etc... » 2003-09-25 12:02:53

Well recently I've become obsessed with space ,
I always find myself doodling planets, space stations,
terraformations, but now I come to space travel.
Which root should we take? Which engine should we use?
Mars is only 9 months away, Venus only 8(?).
So what are your opinions on space travel?

I personally prefer the wormhole method myself.
With recent discoveries of event horizons and new
brilliant theories on putting point A to B.
