The 3d stereopictures at [http://www.lyle.org/mars/]http://www.lyle.org/mars/ , is it just me, or is the blue/cyan spaced to far apart. I have to look severely cross eyed to get 3d effect.

I am just a novice dumb butt, does the following NASA statement mean no ocean at this site, beads are volcanic in nature and forget looking for past ocean type fossels. That statement has taken some of the wind out of my sails. I was sure hoping that was ocean layed sediment rock.

'The sulfur-rich rock, probably volcanic ash or compacted, windblown dust, sheds the relatively harder granules as the outcrop erodes, said Squyres, the mission's main scientist. '

I agree, I own a reef tank, I could throw a little coral debris around the sand and take a picture just like that. Probably just in our dreams tho.

Hello everyone, new to site, glad to be here. I've read all the Spirt and Opportunity threads, looks like a good bunch.

Anybody notice the letter S with a dash to each side  -S-   in the bedrock near the center of the Opportunity hi res pan. Just looks a little out of place.

Probably just a message from little green creatures.
