Thanks for the link to this encouraging report on dendrite suppression.
By any chance, did you notice the (to me surprising) term: "Molecular Foundry"?
This is the first time I've seen the term in general use, although the term itself would go back to Eric Drexler's "Engines of Creation".
“Our dendrite-suppressing technology has exciting implications for the battery industry,” said Brett Helms, a staff scientist in Berkeley Lab’s Molecular Foundry, in a press statement. “With it, battery manufacturers can produce safer lithium metal batteries with both high energy density and long cycle life.”

We have talked about what is causing the dendrite build up and break down of the cell. That is heat from fast charging and from fast current draw off that causes the cell to change.
