Re: Housekeeping

tahanson43206,

Apologies, but I've been a little busy today between cutting lumber to build a new door frame and fixing my car.

I'm beginning to see where SpaceNut was coming from, with respect to fixing his car.  I paid $5K for my 2007 Dodge Charger, but I then spent $6K at the Dodge dealership, thinking they would fix my car.  Then they called me 2 days before I was supped to pick up the car and told me that all 6 injectors were leaking and that the intake manifold did indeed have a vacuum leak, which is what I brought the car in for to get fixed.  This is after they already had the car for two weeks.  I had to call it quits at that point.  I'm sure on Monday the car would still not be fixed and their tech would find more problems.

I spent the rest of the day running around trying to get parts.  I'm fed up at this point, so I'm going to fix it myself.  I haven't had to do that since before I met my wife, but there was a time when I had to do my own mechanic work because I didn't have the money to go to the dealership, or anywhere, really.  I bought a gasket set and I ordered new fuel injectors.  I managed to get the intake plenum off before running out of daylight, but that was about it.  The one good thing about that engine is that nearly every bolt on it is 10mm.

Anyway...

A thunderstorm killed our power, but it's back (for now).

SpaceNut,

Running the script shouldn't harm the forum.  I'll remove 100 Test IDs from the ban table.  If you're satisfied with the results, then we can turn it loose on more Test IDs.

Re: Housekeeping

tahanson43206,

I used the script to remove testid10006 through testid10099 from the ban list.

[info] Playing test case Unban_NewMars_Test_IDs / Unban_Test_ID

[info] Time: Sun Aug 15 2021 03:52:04 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time) Timestamp: 1629017524433
[info] Test case passed

I removed testid10100 manually.

I searched for a handful of the IDs at random and all were successfully removed.  I watched the script the entire time.

If we figure on 100 IDs in 5 minutes or less, then it won't take long to complete this task.

Re: Housekeeping

For kbd512 #1479

Thanks for your report of the successful run from 10006-10100!

And thanks for showing the [info] command! Nice!

As a minor detail ... the earlier test sequence ended at 10004 .... the new run started at 10006, so 10005 is stranded.

***
For SpaceNut ... WBA completed a run to 14500 last night ... the Internet appears to have been smooth as glass again.

Verify runs for tonight's dash to 14600 will start shortly.

Nice to see kbd512's solution starting to put a dent in the backlog.

For the record as we proceed: Users: 19,633 Topics: 7,694 Posts: 179,806

Update at 10:15 local time .... all 110 usernames with Zero Posts were found in the Users table.

A Verify in Bans table script will start shortly.

All 110 usernames are found in the Bans table. 100 will be submitted for tonight's update.

The following is a test of subscript:

abc3 <<== Subscript in an OpenOffice document did not transfer to FluxBB

abc[sub]3[/sub] << attempt to use sub bbcode command per mxrp.chat > bbcodegude

Well! ** That ** didn't work!

abc[sub]{3}[/sub] <<== will try skdavis.net suggestion

And ** that ** didn't work either.  Implementation of bbcode is (apparently) implementation dependent.

subscript is not given as an option at bbcode.org

Re: Housekeeping

tahanson43206,

That detail is from the Katalon Recorder log file.  The ellipsis is simply an echo back of every command being executed in the loop while the script is executing, but you already have every step / command executed by the script since I posted it previously, so there was no point to repeating that over and over again.  If SpaceNut grows weary of the manual work involved, then I'm pretty sure this script could take care of the Test ID ban removal job in less than a day, but that's up to him.

Anyway, I'm off to do more work on my fancy brick / car.  I'm beginning to understand why mechanics charge so much.  These modern cars are an absolute pain in the butt to work on.  I've disconnected more electronics than I can shake a stick at.  On more modern cars?...  I don't even want to think about that.

Re: Housekeeping

For kbd512 ... thanks for showing what the log looks like!

I think your confirmation you used a work ID to obtain the demo software is evidence there is a movement in this country to defeat spam by refusing to accept free email addresses.  This is the second example I have seen/heard about in recent days.

The difference is one company told me why they were refusing my email.  The other company simply ignored me.

***
For SpaceNut ... if you can spare a moment please take care of little orphan TestID10005.

There is no need to bother kbd512 with that one ...

It appears kbd512 is looking for you to provide some guidance on how fast you want the TestID's upgraded to full Member status.

I'll continue processing 100 usernames per day as long as you keep providing Bans for WBA to chew on!

Re: Housekeeping

SpaceNut,

That little guy?  I wouldn't worry about that little guy.

I'll run the script a bit later for 200 IDs.  We'll take care of all 200 in one pass this time.

We lost power for about three hours, so I was offline earlier after I finished working on my Charger.  I've started replacing the seals using a gasket kit from the local O'Reilly's.  Some thunderstorms rolled through and did a bit of damage.  That happens from time to time.  If all goes well after my new fuel injectors arrive on Tuesday, I'll have a working car by the end of the week.  If not, then it might be time for a new engine.  Since I'm after max fuel economy, it'll be an inline-4, either a Chrysler / Fiat 2.4L Multi-Air / Tigershark or a Cummins R2.8 turbo diesel, if this 2.7L DOHC V6 silliness from Chrysler doesn't pan out.  I will have replaced every electronic gizmo on this engine by the time I'm done.  I think the engine is a waste of time and money, but that's just my opinion.  It's obvious that whoever designed it never had to work on one.

Re: Housekeeping

For kbd512 #1492

Bravo for another batch of 200!  We're on a 37 (or so) day stretch here, and it is mighty nice seeing those little ID's all polished and standing tall in the display case, waiting for new members!

It is the combination of the energetic computer programming of the spammers, and the leadership of SpaceNut, that allows us to create a unique environment for admission of new members, when the time comes.

Most forum administrators (it appears to me at least) would grumble about the spammer accounts and delete them. SpaceNut has chosen to see those weeds as potential productive locations for members, and the sheer scale of the spammer activity over 20 years means we have the potential to become a gathering place on the Internet.

Whether that actually happens is To Be Determined, but SpaceNut (with all our help) is creating an inviting site.

Good to go any time....kbd512

I am half way through the R* pages for banning the spammer accounts.

Th, I did some modes to the 17 crew topic with content from conversation where I though that it fit to give it some more fluff.
Oldfart1939 can modify it when he gets to it. Just take a peek and see if there is anything that sticks out.

Would some one check values of boiloff for starship even thou we know that each would be a different number and volume we still are close to assume that they will track together.

I did a few cycles just to see a timeline events and amounts that would remain and its not what we think.

Its that number of days between fueling to the next which will be the issue when adding up all of the cargo ships and crew for a journey.

For kbd512 ... re #1497 ... thank you for the the link to the LNG boiloff paper ... I appreciated seeing the comparisons between storage sizes and type, and the explanation of coping mechanisms.

For SpaceNut ... as you think about the boil-off problem for Elon's dedicated fuel depot tanker, please add consideration of the coping methods as described in Dr. Ursan's paper.

My guess (only a guess at this point) is that Solar Power (on the outside of a large heat shield) ought to be more than sufficient to provide power for the coping mechanisms.

Re: Housekeeping

For anyone who might be interested ...

Last night's local Linux SIG meeting spent some time reviewing the transition from Digital Subscriber Line to Fiber ...

AT*T is the provider. According to the gent who performed the switchover, AT&T is retiring the Uverse brand and going with something else, which i did not catch.

The fiber service selected (based upon price point) delivers 25 Mb up and down.  Much higher rates are available (of course) but the group is part of a non-profit supported by member dues, so economy rules.

Calliban would fit right in!

So would SpaceNut (come to think of it).

If anyone else has experience with this transition, or any other with a competitor, you would have at least ** one ** interested reader.
