However, it lost synchronization at 82632, so I'll rerun that part of the scan.
I'm testing a modification of the script to halt a run when synchronization is lost, but that is not ready for use.

For SpaceNut re Potholes scan ...
In the days since the start of the current series, I have observed failures of the process in the vicinity of 600 posts .... I'm working on (trying to find) a solution to improve the script to deal with whatever is going on. In the mean time, it is simple enough to break up runs into 500 post chunks.
Today's runs will be scheduled as 83001-83500 and 83501-84000
Update at 12:18 local time ... While debugging the problem with the Potholes script bogging down at about Post #600, I discovered that for some time, my Smart Wait commands have NOT been working. I've been taking them for granted, because the scripts seemed to be working while we were just doing 300 posts a day.
It was a shock to realize they were not working. The cause was simple enough. In setting up processing inside the program, there is a sequence that is needed to insure the complex commands are visited before the simple ones. I had that reversed, so the simple Wait was being installed where-ever I had called for a Smart Wait. To add insult to injury, the simple Wait was installed with a time of zero, so it was doing nothing at all.
I've revised my procedures to catch an error like that sooner. What's mystifying (to me at least) is how I let something like that go for so long.
Today's run to 83500 seems to have completed without a problem...

For SpaceNut re Streetkeeping as a relative of Housekeeping....
I live in a dense neighborhood of a large/good sized city.
When I moved in decades ago, the mayor at the time spent city funds to sweep the streets. Large machines with rotary brushes would visit the neighborhoods and collect the leaves. Those days are long gone.
In the past couple of years I noticed the gradual build up of leaf debris, as the annual collection never happened, and residents did not bag the leaves in the street.
Last year, at some effort, I cleaned the entire gutter on my side of the street, only to see it refill almost immediately due to wind action on the leaves in the opposite gutter.
This year, I decided to try to keep ** both ** gutters clear. There are already a few leaves, so I was out recently, and collected a dozen bags or so.
Today, I happened to open the front door just as a workman across the street was blowing all my neighbor's leaves into the street, instead of bagging them.
I'm sure the workman "earned" his fee, from the standpoint of the home owner, because the lawn is clean as a whistle.
However, I'm ** also ** sure the workman had not a thought in the world for who or what might take care of the leaves once they were in the street.

For SpaceNut .... just JYI ... whatever gremlin was causing the Dell (hardware/software/interface) to fail to deliver Enter commands via the serial pathway went away when I let the Dell rest for several hours. I don't recall having done anything out of the ordinary today, that would have caused the failure, but obviously ** something ** happened.
I sure am glad to have the Enter command back working. It is a workhorse of the system without which things really bog down.

In the Petrol Price$ topic, Calliban just dropped off another of his visions of massive good that might come to millions if not billions of humans, if anyone were to take him seriously.
The NewMars forum is the logical place for such an idea to appear, but without some pretty dramatic changes in how we do things, it will disappear under the bridge never to be heard again, until Mars_B4_Moon brings it back as an ancient artifact.
Please think about how we (forum Admins and members) might act (together) to change the fate of Calliban's idea from inevitable oblivion to Real Universe practical plans and actions leading to Real Universe systems in place around the world.

You've been busy with family, house, yard, cars and a zillion other duties.
When you get back, please think about the possibility we might be able to do something with Calliban's "geothermal" village/town heating idea.
I'm thinking along the lines of:
Geothermal Heating of Village
The title above doesn't quite catch the flavor of what Calliban has suggested in the Petrol Price$ topic.
The essence of his idea (as i understand it) is to create a Big Dumb Thermal Heater system for a town or village.
I am reminded of OTEC.
You may recall from your study of OTEC that it involves movement of massive amounts of water to gain a tiny thermal benefit of only about 30 degrees Fahrenheit (as I recall)
Calliban's system appears to be better than that, but Calliban's system appears to involve moving equivalent masses of water.
We (humans) don't have enough fresh water to support such a system, so using sea water would make sense, and the system wouldn't care.
Maintenance of such a system to prevent and remove organic contamination would be a concern.

Work is progressing on Simple OCR ... at present, the feature to generate an XML file from pixel data is now importing four files correctly.
Each is shown to the operator to confirm they are (respectively) 1) Header 2) Model Row 3) Pixel Data and 4) Trailer
The next phase of development is the nitty gritty ... the Model Rows are stored in memory. The Pixel data is read in from file.
Output is (intended to be) properly formatted XML for input to a spreadsheet.

I've been thinking about Calliban's Big Dumb Thermal Heater for Great Britain (and hopefully other regions on Earth)
While Calliban has spoken of using wind power and solar power to heat reservoirs of water, I think the nuclear fission powered thermal energy of the Earth's core is a more reliable long term supply. It is available (essentially forever) directly beneath the feet of any land owner.
The tip of the drill from the surface needs to reach far enough down so that water from the surface will be converted to steam.
The Big Dumb Thermal Heating system needs to perform physical work to move hot material from here to there, ** and ** to provide the physical energy to return the steam back to the descending pipe to complete a loop.
It seems to me that such a system needs NO moving parts, except for a one-way valve at the bottom of the descending pipe.
I'm not entirely sure what the device at the lower end of the pipe would look like .... that is more Calliban's area of expertise.
What I ** am ** (reasonably) sure of is that a steam head from the Earth's lower regions would have the energy needed to reach radiators in every home and business in a village, ** and ** to push the exhausted steam back to the down pipe as water.
Thus (as I'm thinking of it) the Big Dumb Thermal Heater system would have no moving parts, except for valves here and there, to direct steam to where it is needed or wanted (not necessarily the same thing).

I did a check and we have spoken in 9 pages of topics that have the buzz word "geothermal" with in it and I did bump the ones which had it in the titles.
We could break out that post, but will it create the desired responses to create since we have no data to tell us if there is potential and at what depth....

In searching this topic (not as thoroughly as you did) I rediscovered a post reporting that FriendOfQuark1 got an estimate for digging a geothermal well ... the amount at the time was $12,000.00.
I assume that cost would include material (ie, pipe) as well as the equipment and labor of the drilling company.
The return on that investment would be greater in a northern climate than Texas.
However, it should be possible to work out the details of a geothermal system that produces power as well as heat.
What I'm thinking about there is the hot-cold temperature difference at the well depth ... if cold water is arriving from the surface, and steam is generated by the Earth's store of thermal energy, then the difference might be sufficient to deliver power that could be fed back up the pipe as AC if a wire is provided.
I'm not sure how much power might be available. The number can probably be calculated if all the variables are known, but (of course) in thinking about a system of this kind, practically NONE of the variables are known at the start.

I have yet to study the links you provided yesterday, and am planning to do that, but I just saw a report that King Charles has an estate valued at $28 billion.
He could most certainly afford $12,000,000 for a geothermal power/heating experiment.
I am hoping Calliban will tackle design for a 1000 year delivery system.
The Roman aqueducts still exist in some parts of Europe.
The Egyptian pyramids remain standing after 2000+ years.
It appears that stone is a material that can withstand the passage of time, if well positioned by human craftspeople.
I'm offering the suggestion that a stone well might be capable of surviving for hundreds if not thousands of years, if it is situated in a region not subject to earthquakes.
Stone wells have been constructed in the past, and it would be interesting to see what records might exist of that technology.

I have good news ... the WBA Potholes scan to 96000 ended with a Green screen and only 11 potholes!
That is the kind of low number I'm hoping we'll see going forward. The ideal would be none at all, but there may be a low number of deletes by members, or moves by Admins, per 1000 posts.

The post processing procedure is settling into four passes to refine the data down to just what's essential.
I'm not bothering to count SpaceNut posts these days. There are usually a lot of them. They fall out in one of the passes.
By the way .... if you ever wanted to know how many SpaceNut posts there were, the data is saved and it can be pulled up to answer the question easily enough.
