Unfortunately, slavery has not been abolished. It still happens, but is generally illegal, so not public.
ISIL/DAESH would have brought it back to legality had it prevailed so we need to be thankful for it's defeat.

Indeed - I could have been more exact...I meant where it has been genuinely abolished that was a mark of real progress.
