Doing some quick research... This forum is based on forum software called FluxBB. In 2006, before the Great Crash, it was based on PHPBB so has already gone through an upgrade. The next version is in Beta, called Flarum. It's a complete re-write, so would have major impact on New Mars. And it's still in Beta test. But the feature list includes a "Like" button, and appears optimized for mobile devices such as smart phones. The example forum on the development website looks significantly different than New Mars. Not sure I like it. So maybe, maybe not. I'm not an admin, just speculating.

And what do you want to do with a like button? How abut just saying that you like it? Isn't that enough?

Re: Politics

I see no point to continuing to participate in this argument.  The difference between belief and reality is so vast for Tom,  like it is for Trump (and the tea party),  that there is no common ground to converse here.

There was no vast fraudulent voting.  The Russians swayed opinions with fake news,  but did not mess with vote tallies (although they could have).  There is no such thing as trickle-down economics (that has been known for millennia,  political belief systems that say otherwise are lies).  Torture really is illegal under international law.  Pipelines and resource recovery are fine,  but making messes while doing them is not.  Clean air and clean water really do make a difference:  compare Beijing today with LA and NYC today,  so censoring government agencies involved with the environment to keep their dismantling secret from the public is a great evil. Building another Great Wall of China on the Rio Grande makes absolutely no sense (there is no expensive wall that cannot be defeated by cheap ladders and shovels,  you can ask the Chinese),  while reforming the work permit process actually does make sense.

Facts actually do matter.

Tom Kalbfus you list not one free air broadcast systems channel for public viewing and that is the difference between censorship when you can not afford to do nothing else... Going digital caused a filtering of information to the masses that do not have internet, satelite or cable coming into there home....The new free air broadcast channels on digital are less strong with signal propagation than even the old analog UHF had so not as many views occur for the stations that still do broadcast....The PBS is also with no commercial advertisement so no funding system other than from donors and special fund raising events.

Nothing is free, not even public television, it is just paid for differently. If you want PBS to keep broadcasting then donate, but I don't think it deserves government funds. We pay for that through our taxes, therefore it is just another form of pay TV. Broadcast is obsolete, in the future people will watch shows on websites, not on free air broadcasting and not on cable. People will watch their shows when the want to watch them, there would be no television schedule except for News and Sporting events. There are many ways to pay for television and get no commercials. Netflix for example has no commercials!

The Trump administration is circulating a memo ordering federal employees not to communicate with Congress, a demand that Democrats are calling an illegal gag order.

“The Trump administration has issued restrictions at multiple agencies on employee communications, including, in some instances, communications with Congress,” Rep. Cummings’ letter cited a memo -- dated Jan. 20 -- circulating at the Department of Health and Human Services from Acting Secretary Norris Cochran the acting secretary that tells agency division heads that “no correspondence to public officials (e.g., members of Congress, governors) ... unless specifically authorized by me or my designee, shall be sent between now and Feb. 3.”

mass communication that may put Twitter at the center of his strategy, raising legal and security questions. When Trump deleted a tweet, he likely violated the President Records Act, a 1978 law that requires all presidential writings be preserved. Congress recently amended it to include electronic records. Since he does use his Twitter account for official presidential business, it is subject to the Presidential Records Act.

In his first week on the job, Trump has used an unsecured Android phone to post tweets from his personal Twitter account, and to delete them. Using an unsecured phone, or personal email registration, makes the president more susceptible to hacking.  His staff initially used a personal email to arrange his government Twitter account, which was updated to a government email on Thursday.

Senator Cory Booker calls Donald Trump a ‘liar’ who uses ‘propaganda’ repeatedly lying to the American people and using propaganda to stir confusion and mislead the public. Can you say alternative facts....
We should not accept a president that routinely lies blatantly to the American people...

Now with regards to illegals that are here to commit crime the Arizona law SB1070 was the state's landmark immigration crackdown required law enforcement to determine the immigration status of someone arrested or detained if there was reasonable suspicion they were in the country illegally.
The law was seen as means to stop by profiling, abitrary stopping of motor vehicles ect....
Now if they are here illegally and does do comit a crime then they do not have the rights as given to a person here legally that does the same crime of that being used in a court of law and a detention camp sounds about right to do for this illegal entry....

It's not clear whether a California secession would be handled by the federal government, even if the state's voters approved it.

Well, it's already been established that states are not allowed to leave. If California gets to, the Confederate states deserve a massive apology, and compensation.

No one asked the illegal immigrants to sneak across the border, and if they want to take back California, we'll just boot them back across the border into Mexico without it! You know what happened to Ukraine with all of those Russian Immigrants, You heard of what happened to those Germans in Czechoslovakia, when Hitler used them as an excuse to invade. I will agree that we are under invasion by those that are illegally here and that we have not done enough to control this and not done enough to either make them citizens or to deport them. But from what I have seen the deportation does not work and detention camps we have not tried but then again this could be consider not being humane.

So what would be your solution for illegals?

There is no invasion at all from the eastern and western boarder at all...

This invasion is not from war along our nations southern borders...it is from people trying to live the american dream that they hear of....we are not seeing any invasion at all from our norther border, why is that?

If you read history, the Confederate States did start the process of bringing that case to the Supreme Court. However, there was disagreement whether Fort Sumter would be owned by the North or South. The South demanded it, the North sent reinforcements. That resulted in the first shots fired, that started the war.

More than 1,100 executive branch positions are subject to Senate approval; about 700 of those were deemed crucial by the Washington Post and the Partnership for Public Service. And what about banning people from misogynistic cultures? If we bring in people that believe women are property belonging to their nearest male relative or to their husbands, what does that do to women's rights if they become citizens and vote? Do you want Islamic Law in our country? Do you want Muslim ghettos of no go zones for non-muslims existing within our country as they do in Europe?

It wouldn't happen if Muslims weren't there in the first place, and the fact that some of them were supporters of terrorism or were even terrorists themselves! It I easier to tolerate Muslims when they live on the other side of an ocean and they kill mosly Muslims in their own countries, rather than your friends and relatives here. Part of the attacks on Muslims is motivated by revenge for previous Muslim attacks on non-Muslims. If we don't allow Muslims to come here in the first place we don't have this problem of terrorism or of some people wanting to get revenge for that terrorism. By letting in some people who may be terrorists, you are increasing the risk to American citizens that they may be subject to terrorist attacks by Muslims, and where there is fear there is also hatred. Islamic culture has some problems, namely that much of it tolerates terrorism or even justifies it! By bringing such people here, you are also fanning the flames of intolerance back at them. Not every American is a stoic, willing to take the slings, arrows, bombs and bullets the Arab terrorist wants to shoot at them! Where there is fear, there are some people willing to act on it. I'd like Islamic terrorism to remain mostly a middle east problem and notmakeit an American problem as well.

There was also another Texas Mosque which was also burned to the ground as well since his orders....

Maybe if they weren't Muslims, they wouldn't be targets for people seeking revenge for previous Islamic terrorist attacks against Americans. People see so many news stories about terrorism, and some don't want to tolerate new Muslims moving into their neighborhood and giving them something to worry about.  Isolatonism also means keeping the bad people out as well as not meddling in their affairs. If we bring them into out country, we are then involved, and so we might as well send out soldiers out to bomb the heck out of those countries that are sending terrorists our way. the idea of America was the get away from religious intolerance, and that means keeping out those people that want to wage a religious war on us.

Billionaires Charles Koch and David Koch network slams Trump immigrant ban

Well billionaires have their own private security guards, they are not taking the same risks we are when our country lets in people with a higher chance of being Islamic terrorists. Charles Koch is quite safe, because the Islamic terrorists won't be able to reach him, but we have to rely on the police, the government, and the state department and border patrol to protect us!

Billionaire innovator Elon Musk pledged Sunday to seek a consensus among fellow business executivesappointed to advise President Trump on needed changes to an immigration ban that stirred an outcry around the country. The Tesla Motors and SpaceX CEO is part of a chorus of tech executives who have denounced Trump's immigration policy.

Why else would people want to colonize space? Mostly its to get away from the Old World where dangerous religious fanatics that want to kill us live. It would be nice to live in a space colony where "Jonnie Jihad" wasn't allowed to visit and blow things up! We have enough problems with the hazards of space without introducing an unstable human element into it!

It strikes me that nobody has done the risk assessments. If they did they would concentrate on bigger problems which might be easier to deal with.

Which is more dangerous to neighbors, a nuclear reactor or a mosque? Both have potential externalities which could be dangerous. A lot of people feel uncomfortable living near a nuclear reactor, how about a mosque? What could go wrong with both? A nuclear reactor could melt down and release dangerous radioactivity, A mosque could produce a terrorist!

Or public school could produce a Trump supporter.

And what's wrong with a Trump supporter? You didn't have to live under eight years of the Obama Administration! You had a nice sensible Conservative Prime Minister and government for most of that time with ration pro-Canadian policies. Obama wasn't pro-American, he wanted to get even with a country that was mostly white, for slavery and racial discrimination, he wasn't interested in good racial relations between blacks and whites! Obama damaged the economy with higher taxes and he eviscerated the Defense Budget while sending our soldiers to foreign places to die without the support of our government! It was definitely time to change, and I didn't want to support a lying weasel from the same Democratic Party as Obama just because she was a woman and married to an ex-president.
