Re: Politics

Proof of what I have been saying all along.  Being woke (left-wing) correlates with mental health issues.
https://www.zerohedge.com/medical/woke- … dy-reveals

The question is, does being left-wing cause mental health issues, or are the mentally weak drawn to the woke movement in the same way shite attracts flies?  I think its a little bit of both.  Either way, I have never met a sane lefty.  They are all profoundly bitter at the world, with an aura of spite surrounding them like a bad smell.  They despise patriotism, hate western society and dream of tearing it down.  They rot the sole of a nation.  Spreading poison and undermining nations from within.  It is time that they were recognised as the nasty little vandals that they are.

Ana Kasparian Visits Hell - A Special Place in Hell YouTube Channel

Yeah, I mean look, I just think the culture, I don't know maybe I was totally wrong but I feel like there was a time in the country where people who had disagreements could have disagreements and still really like each other and still be friends.  We're so far removed from that culture, and I'd really like to get it back.  I don't know how we build that again, but I don't want, look I've gone, I've done a complete 180 from thinking like, oh if people don't, I can't believe I used to think this, but I used to think like...  Well, if people don't share my politics, then they're just, they're probably inherently bad people, and we have nothing in common, and I can't have them in my life.  It's such a dumb way of thinking, and I closed myself off to so many wonderful people as a result of that.  And so, for others who operate that way, even if they're doing it subconsciously, I want them to like think of what they are depriving themselves of, which is really wonderful relationships that could add more to their lives, to enrich their lives, and also, I like being challenged.  Everyone should, I get that some people are uncomfortable with it, but it's super boring to exist in a world where you're never challenged, like I was so bored for two years straight and I couldn't figure out why.  I was just like, I'm bored, I'm bored, why am I so bored?  Like, I like my job, but I'm bored, and it was because I wasn't ever really being challenged, you know?  And and anytime someone attempted to in good faith, I had been primed or conditioned to think, well this is just an alt-right person who hates the country, or, you know, hates minorities, hates women.  I had all these, like, stories in my head and I just realized I've absorbed a lot of BS, and I need to detox from it and kind of start seeing the world for what it really is. - Ana Kasparian

Re: Politics

clark,

Years ago, I used to talk guns with my fellow gun nuts on a gun forum.  After about a year, it was painfully boring, so I had to leave.  For starters, at least 70% of the people there barely knew which end to be on.  Maybe 0.1% of the people there knew the differences between 4140 and 416 barrels, apart from the "color" of their barrel.  If they knew that much, they probably didn't know that the 4140 had a finish applied to it, whereas the stainless was not finished with anything except bead blasting.  How do you have a conversation about firearms with someone who doesn't understand basic metallurgy, has never used a lathe or welding machine in their life, and has no appreciation for the smell or feel of a fine slab of English Walnut or Ebony, or thinks tacky white plastic is anything like real bone and Ivory?  Some of the pilots or reloaders were a bit more interesting characters, but that was it.  Worse than that, some of them were angry as hell, kinda like you've been lately, and some of the rest were so set in their ways that it was similar to talking to my grandfather about playing poker.  Some of the people I've taken to the range with me, well, I'm never going back to the range with them.  They're not fun to be around.

I knew plenty of guys in the military who were exactly like that, and it ruined the entire experience for me.  There's always some genius who has to ruin the party for everyone else.  Drinking is fun to do with your friends, but I didn't aspire to be a lifelong drunkard.  There were far more interesting things to do with my life on the weekends, like flying.  Worst of all, there were precious few people to talk computers with, despite being surrounded by fellow Radiomen.  They call them "ITs" now, but it's still the same thing.

I don't worry too much about the Russians or Chinese invading, for example.  They're dumber than I thought they were if they're merely contemplating that course of action.  If they choose to do that anyway, then they should know what's waiting for them.

Now, my friend, do you understand why I come here and talk to you?

We used to have some fairly interesting conversations, or at least, they made me think.  Maybe you have it all worked out in your head, but I know I don't.

What do we have now?

Silence.  Anger.  Frustration.

It's not beneficial to anyone at all.

If you hadn't noticed, I don't stop talking to people merely because they said something I didn't like.  I may never think or know the same things as other people I talk to, but I know enough about war to know that when the talking ends, generally speaking, only bad things happen afterwards.

Re: Politics

I would like to ask Americans. What will it take for the US to take the war in Ukraine seriously.

Parallels are extensive  between Russia now and Nazi Germany in the 1930s. When Adolf Hitler invaded Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia, he claimed he was defending ethnic Germans. When Putin invaded Ukraine he claimed he was defending ethnic Russians. Invasion of Ukraine is not the first; Russia attacked Chechnya from 1994 to 1996, signing a ceasefire in 1997. But Russia attacked again in year 2000. One reason Germany went to war is to establish more defensible borders; they were surrounded by flat open land. One reason Russia is invading now is to establish more defensible borders; they're surrounded by flat open land.

Putin has stated everything that was part of the Soviet Union or the Russian Empire before it, now belongs to Russia. Borders at the beginning of World War I in 1914 extended from the Black Sea to the Carpathian mountains, to Sudetes mountains, to the Baltic Sea. The only places to drive a tank division are the Polish gap (Sudetes to Baltic Sea) or Romanian gap (Carpathians to Black Sea). To do this requires annexing all of Ukraine, Moldova, a strip of northeast Romania from Moldova to the Carpathians, all of Poland, all of Lithuania/Latvia/Estonia. To reduce the border, it also requires annexing Finland. In 1914 Russian territory included the southern 2/3 of Poland including Warsaw, that strip of Romania, but all of the other countries including Finland. Putin and his generals intend to take all of this.

In 1939, Hitler was upset when UK Prime Minister Chamberlain said he could have only a part of Poland. Hitler ordered Germany's army to invade and annex all of Poland. I expect Putin will do the same, he will demand all of it.

Nazi Germany was scary. Below is a map of the maximum extent of Third Reich in 1942. Nazi Germany was defeated, but at great cost.

At the beginning of World War 1, the US was isolationist. WWI was 1914 to 1919, but the US refused to get involved until 1917. Not until US ships were sunk by Nazi submarines. WWII was 1939 to 1945, but the US again refused to get involved, until Pear Harbor in December 1941.

So my question: what will it take for Americans to take this seriously? Will it require a direct attack by Russia on US territory or assets? Will this have to expand to WWIII?

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried’s spectacular rise and fall in the cryptocurrency industry — a journey that included his testimony before Congress, a Super Bowl advertisement and dreams of a future run for president — hit a new bottom Thursday when a New York jury convicted him of fraud in a scheme that cheated customers and investors of at least $10 billion. After the monthlong trial, jurors rejected Bankman-Fried’s claim during four days on the witness stand in Manhattan federal court that he never committed fraud or meant to cheat customers before FTX, once the world’s second-largest crypto exchange, collapsed into bankruptcy a year ago. “His crimes caught up to him. His crimes have been exposed,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Danielle Sassoon told the jury of the onetime billionaire just before they were read the law by Judge Lewis A. Kaplan and began deliberations. Sassoon said Bankman-Fried turned his customers’ accounts into his “personal piggy bank” as up to $14 billion disappeared.

Re: Politics

Every developed country in the world has a major problem: crashing birth rate. Some more, some less, but every developed country without exception. This has resulted in an aging population, large number of retirees with not enough young people to pay taxes to support pensions and healthcare. Also not enough workers to do the work: factory workers, people to maintain roads, water supply, power plants, sewars, etc. Many developed countries have tried to compensate with immigration. But since all developed countries have the same problem, immigrants must come from third world countries. This is causing problems.

Peter Zeihan talks about this a lot. In one of his videos he claimed that Canada has more immigrants as a proportion of their population than any other country. He claimed Canada has 3 times as many newcomers as the country with the next greatest number. As a proportion of population. He said Canada is "special" with "sprinkles" and other countries couldn't do this. But is that true?

countries-most-immigrants-2.jpg
Oops! Not! In this case Peter Zeihan is full of shit.
