Okay, I tried to get it to send you the info to your email addy, but I received the "Invalid_Session" general error message.
Unless you absolutely want to hold out to see if Josh can work some magic, I think your best bet is to create a new user id. If you had any PM's, they are gone anyway due to the recent board conversion.
'BelindaC' has a nice ring to it.
Sorry.
PS- I think what happened is the board automaticaly deleted you due to inactivity. You last posted in Dec. 2004, and apparently the board does stuff like this.
PSS- Just realized the email situation you posted. Hey Josh, see if you can delete user Belinda completely from the DB. That should at least allow for another account to be created.

I'm so sorry for not getting to you guys sooner, I changed your passwords. Let me try to catch up here.
clark, the PM issue. I think you have to click "save PM" to save certain PM's that you've sent, I'm not completely sure about that, but it's a possiblity. I'll look in to it (see if that's an issue on other forums).

Well, I think there may be some confusion here...
We can clear this up pretty easily. If you sent me a PM today, then there is a problem. If you didn't then don't worry.
I received one of those notices in my email with a post date of today, but then there was no PM in the box (it was post dated for 6PM)
Of course it may have been from early this morning during some of the testing... I dunno. The PM function seems to work since it has saved other PM's from other users, but without the email notification though.
Offline
Hmm, nope, I didn't send you a PM at all today. Perhaps it was left over from last night. I was doing some rather weird stuff with the PHP. I really have no clue, but I haven't even had a good chance to read your PM or other PM's I recieved.
But people can delete PM's that they've sent you. You'll get the PM notification, but if you haven't read it yet, they can delete it from their outbox, and you'll never get the PM (but you will have already recieved the notification). Once it goes into the sent box, then you'll have a copy of it. (And I don't recall sending you a PM and deleting it, but I could've been out of it, who knows.)
And the "password remind" function will not work with your old IkonBoard password, you'll have to change it first. This is because IkonBoard and phpBB use two different encryption methods to store the password. Sorry I didn't think of that sooner.
edit: BTW, Cindy, I preferred IkonBoard's method to insert URLs, too, and I will create a little JavaScript mod to do that, but in due time, I have to get email PMs working first. That's a pretty important feature.

How do people change their password on the old board if going to the old board shunts them here?
Offline
What is the purpose of changing your password on the old forum? What I meant was, the old password that was used on your IkonBoard account will not work with the "password remind" feathre of phpBB until you change it to a new password which is essentially stored in phpBB format.

Some people appear to have problems accessing their user ID. The password no longer works for them, and generates an error message (I believe this may be due to the new boards auotmatic deactivation of inactive accounts).
The users seem unable to generate a new user ID if they try to use their same email addy (the board only allows one user ID per email addy).
So it looks like they are stuck in limbo because the board will not accept their old password, they can't change their password, and they can't create a new user ID.
On the previous page of this thread is a little more detail.

Hmm, I think I understand the situation. The only solution that I can think of is having people who cannot access their accounts PM an admin to shoot an email to them with a new password. If we allow double logins we'll have lots of dupe usernames.

I may be mistaken, but I don't believe guests can PM users (users who cannot log in can only log in as guests).
User 'Belinda' was describing her problem earlier, and it may be indicitive of other users who cannot gain access.
Can the mods do this, or is it solely an Admin function?
Offline
Only admins can change passwords, unfortunately, but we have this forum to which Guest posters may post, which is why I meant by "PM admins." Sorry, kind of out of it. I really don't understand why the old passwords aren't working for these individual posters, though. Unless, as you said, they were inactive accounts.

Well, I'm just going by the info in the FAq related to user accounts and problems with accessing.
It states that the board will inactivate accounts due to inactivity. In the case of Belinda, lookig at the records, Dec 2004 was the last post date for the user.
The help suggestion was to create a new account. However, when Belinda tried that, it disallowed the creation because the email addy was already associated with an exsisting registered user.
Thus the problem.
If you delete the account, it may free up the addy to reregister... however, if you start deleting accounts I would imagine that the posts will be orphaned in the database since you might very well be deleting the association.
As an admin, can you change the email addy of exsisting users?
If so, I might suggest that as an fall back solution (orphaned posts will make a mess of things). Delete the email addy associated with the user id and then the users can at least create new accounts with their exsisting email addy, and that should prevent the orphaned posts.
unless of course you can simply reactivate the accounts.

*Belinda: Sign up for another e-mail account through Yahoo! (is free). Re-register here with your new e-mail account. Good luck.
Cindy, I am about to head out for the day, and I just wanted to ask you what you what kind of color scheme you'd like. I would like to install at least 3-4 themes so the users have a nice array of choices. I plan to make my own (I do know some CSS), but that won't happen for a little while.
We could use a womans touch. I think you mentioned some "psychedelic" theme before? Feel free to link to some perferred themes you'd like.
You mean besides the subSilver?
I don't have anything to -link- to, but a couple of color-scheme suggestions:
1. Psychedelic baby! Yeah, I suggested it before, lol.
2. Very soft "dusty" purple with rose and cream highlights.
3. Mellow orange background, yellow and cream highlights.
4. Nautical: Blue, gold, red, white.
Thanks for asking. Pulled those off the top of my head. Yahoo! Groups has a vast array of colors to choose from (of course this isn't Yahoo!)...I do have a link to "HTML Goodies"...would that be workable here?

::EDIT::
Hehehe, I have a feeling Cindy and Rxke would've been having a heart attack if they saw what I was doing at around 1AM last night. Lots of PHP errors. My gosh. To see their faces!
That's got me curious.

Okay, some news. We can only have one account per email, we cannot tell it to let us have two or more, unfortunately. I was going to allow people to reregister using their old emails, but that isn't going to work.
Admins can do anything they want to users, including changing their name, and changing their email address. So there's really no limit to this "solution." I can go about it several ways, including having users with the same name.
So for now the solution is to have users post in a thread to have me reactivate their passwords.
Thanks for those links Cindy, if anyone else has any ideas, let me know, I'll had a couple of my favorites.
And you, really, really don't want to know the whole story. But I was trying to edit the privmsg.php file that governs how private messages are sent (while clark and I chatted about stuff), and quite a few times .php errors occured that could've spelled doom for the forums.

Admins can do anything they want to users, including changing their name
*Hi Josh. "Including changing their name"...the username, right? Want to be certain. In the event I were to request my username be changed to something along astronomy lines (star name or etc.), you could do that?
And all my past posts would bear that username?
It's 4:32 a.m...hopefully I'm interpreting what you've said correctly. If so, I'll definitely consider it.
Thanks.

*Avatar hosting says it must be 80 x 80 pixels (or whatever). This is larger, of course. Can't get it to link from web site. I copied it to my computer and attempted to upload...still won't take (because of size).

Can one of the Mods help?
It is, of course, the avatar I had at the previous board.
Like some other folks, I've frequently changed avatars...but I'd be content to have this one permanently (or for a very long time).
Thanks.

::EDIT:: I also tried to get it hosted at a free avatar hosting site. No luck that way either.
