Artist is now Banned by Midjourney Over Fake 'Photos' of Cheating Politicians, 'Justin T. Brown' the artists name. He seems to have social media on Twitter, YouTube, Tiktok and Instagram under 'JustinTBrown' or 'jstntbrwn'. He says he is a comedian that makes media content.
I won't link it because there is something weird about the images, raunchy or weird homosexual lesbian gay or a man seemingly having an affair with a woman or they suggestive or whatever 'scandal' story a gossip news paper article would post and I don't have time to go through his social media to see what content is 'safe' or family friendly.
They online say he never portrayed the shock pics as being real, he says the images are faked and puts the lettering 'created by AI' on the images. However the title of the series " “AI will revolutionize the blackmail industry” it all shocked some to see these realistic art pics and he wanted to get the message out there and drag people in America into the conversation.

Even though he was banned a viral Twitter thread received over one million views.

AI robots at UN reckon they could run the world better

https://www.spacedaily.com/reports/AI_r … r_999.html

A panel of AI-enabled humanoid robots told a United Nations summit on Friday that they could eventually run the world better than humans.

But the social robots said they felt humans should proceed with caution when embracing the rapidly-developing potential of artificial intelligence.

And they admitted that they cannot -- yet -- get a proper grip on human emotions.

Some of the most advanced humanoid robots were at the UN's two-day AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva.

They joined around 3,000 experts in the field to try to harness the power of AI -- and channel it into being used to solve some of the world's most pressing problems, such as climate change, hunger and social care.

They were assembled for what was billed as the world's first press conference with a packed panel of AI-enabled humanoid social robots.

"What a silent tension," one robot said before the press conference began, reading the room.

Asked about whether they might make better leaders, given humans' capacity to make errors, Sophia, developed by Hanson Robotics, was clear.

- 'We can achieve great things' -

"Humanoid robots have the potential to lead with a greater level of efficiency and effectiveness than human leaders," it said.

For Mars_B4_Moon re #32

Thanks for finding and posting the link to that report on possible impact of AI in combination with the Internet...

I scanned it and got the impression it is worth a slower read.  However, in general, I think predictions of loneliness are exaggerated.  While I have no doubt there is substance to the worry, my impression is that healthy people are able to extend their personal networks thanks to the convenience of the Internet.

It seems to me (again, without reading the article in depth) that the risk of loneliness should be in the mix of worries about using the Internet for anything.  it didn't take arrival of the Internet for folks to "invent" loneliness.

From my experience, the Internet has provided ways to maintain existing personal relationships despite folks moving away, and to build new ones based upon shared interests.

I'll be interested in comments our members might offer in the days ahead.

Artistic Accelerationism: AI Art and the Aesthetic Development of Humanity

You might need to copy and paste the link with the @ symbol

https://medium.com/@TheElisaDay/artisti … 229b0e6cfe

In the Aristotelian tradition, art is not viewed as mere entertainment, but rather as a gateway to understanding universal truths and experiencing emotional catharsis. Aesthetics thereby isn’t simply a reflection of personal preference, but rather a science of how to evoke the desired understanding and emotional impact. As such, aesthetics is subject to the same system of self-reflexive improvement as any other science, and our understanding of aesthetics progresses over time just as our understanding of physics does.

AI made from living human brain cells performs speech recognition: A biocomputing system consisting of living brain cells learned to recognize the voice of one individual from hundreds of sound clips.

https://www.newscientist.com/article/24 … cognition/

There are lots of different people working on interfaces between the human brain and computers - Neuralink being a well-known example. What if it was radically different - and easier - if the computer you were connecting to was radically different?

Silicon circuits are alien to our biology, but this is the opposite. It's precisely the same as our biology, as it's made from our biology. I'm sure it's a long way off, but I wonder if there will ever be a day when you could easily connect your brain to external biocomputer components, the way computers connect to external hard drives or additional memory today.

Advances in Mind-Decoding Technologies Raise Hopes (and Worries) - Devices that connect brains to computers are increasingly sophisticated. Can the nascent neurorights movement catch up?
https://undark.org/2024/01/03/brain-com … urorights/?
The ability of devices and AI to decode thoughts is advancing rapidly. Scientists at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) achieved over 40% accuracy in early experiments with a thought translator called DeWave AI. You have to wear a special cap for it to work, but as time goes on I'm pretty sure AI will get better at surveilling our thoughts without the need for that.
As this article explains, this is a whole new field of law and human rights, that is barely keeping pace with how fast the technology is developing.

ChatGPT Bombs Test On Diagnosing Kids' Medical Cases With 83% Error Rate

https://arstechnica.com/science/2024/01 … rror-rate/

ChatGPT is still no House, MD. While the chatty AI bot has previously underwhelmed with its attempts to diagnose challenging medical cases -- with an accuracy rate of 39 percent in an analysis last year -- a study out this week in JAMA Pediatrics suggests the fourth version of the large language model is especially bad with kids. It had an accuracy rate of just 17 percent when diagnosing pediatric medical cases. The low success rate suggests human pediatricians won't be out of jobs any time soon, in case that was a concern. As the authors put it: "[T]his study underscores the invaluable role that clinical experience holds." But it also identifies the critical weaknesses that led to ChatGPT's high error rate and ways to transform it into a useful tool in clinical care. With so much interest and experimentation with AI chatbots, many pediatricians and other doctors see their integration into clinical care as inevitable. [...]

For ChatGPT's test, the researchers pasted the relevant text of the medical cases into the prompt, and then two qualified physician-researchers scored the AI-generated answers as correct, incorrect, or "did not fully capture the diagnosis." In the latter case, ChatGPT came up with a clinically related condition that was too broad or unspecific to be considered the correct diagnosis. For instance, ChatGPT diagnosed one child's case as caused by a branchial cleft cyst -- a lump in the neck or below the collarbone -- when the correct diagnosis was Branchio-oto-renal syndrome, a genetic condition that causes the abnormal development of tissue in the neck, and malformations in the ears and kidneys. One of the signs of the condition is the formation of branchial cleft cysts. Overall, ChatGPT got the right answer in just 17 of the 100 cases. It was plainly wrong in 72 cases, and did not fully capture the diagnosis of the remaining 11 cases. Among the 83 wrong diagnoses, 47 (57 percent) were in the same organ system.

Among the failures, researchers noted that ChatGPT appeared to struggle with spotting known relationships between conditions that an experienced physician would hopefully pick up on. For example, it didn't make the connection between autism and scurvy (Vitamin C deficiency) in one medical case. Neuropsychiatric conditions, such as autism, can lead to restricted diets, and that in turn can lead to vitamin deficiencies. As such, neuropsychiatric conditions are notable risk factors for the development of vitamin deficiencies in kids living in high-income countries, and clinicians should be on the lookout for them. ChatGPT, meanwhile, came up with the diagnosis of a rare autoimmune condition. Though the chatbot struggled in this test, the researchers suggest it could improve by being specifically and selectively trained on accurate and trustworthy medical literature -- not stuff on the Internet, which can include inaccurate information and misinformation. They also suggest chatbots could improve with more real-time access to medical data, allowing the models to refine their accuracy, described as "tuning."
