Calendars are the result of agrarian societies and the need to plan seeding and harvest. Any future martian calendar should apply the same methodology.
Martian calendar will be based on a cyclical time scale based on Earth Approach, and Earth Retreat. Times of plenty equate to Earth approach and the ability to communicate more quickly, and for quicker transit; times of absence equate with longer communication times and longer transit or resupply.
Earth will hold the same importance as the Sun holds for Earth.

Indeed, there is an astronomical calendar in use, which you may examine at the French web site used for calculation of the current Mars Sol.
If you intend to be working on Mars as an astronomer, I am sure you will want to use the astronomical calendar.
However, for anyone wanting to run a business or a government agency, or to plan events in advance, the calender offered in this topic is an option.
The calendar has been following Mars around the Sun since the most recent New Years on Mars, and it has proven robust, reliable, simple to understand, and above all, suitable for business purposes.
It seems unlikely to me that anyone on Mars will be growing crops according to the Martian calendar, any more than folks will be growing crops according to the Lunar calendar on the Moon, or anywhere else in the Solar System.
If I (for example) were to set up a greenhouse on Mars, I would be highly likely to provide LED lighting designed for the crops planned, and will (most likely) use the dim sunlight available on the surface to recharge electricity storage devices.
A neighbor, on the other hand, may try to use natural Martian sunlight to grow crops, and for such a person the astronomical calendar might be of interest.
However, the neighbor will (most likely) schedule shipment of supplies and deliverables using a business calendar that everyone else is using.

What most calendar's miss is that time keeping and date keeping are largely subjective and entirely ego-centric experiences. We frame dates in relation to ourselves and our needs. Thus two book ends to bank on will be a Mars/Earth relationship. A Mars approach to Earth will have a real effect on people living/working on Mars just as a Earth retreat will have a real effect on people. This contextualizes and makes meaningful the date or time period. A calendar has to be anchored to these types of points. Additional reference points will be local weather conditions that require modification to behavior; seasonal dust storm patterns, solar maximum/minimum values, temps that equate to martian winter or summer that have material effects on hardware or interaction with the local environment result in a more meaningful calendar or time keeping system
June *means* something, inherently, in and of itself. We have shared reference points that allow the calendar to act as a communication tool to express the experience of time. Every Martian calendar will fail unless it includes this core component.
Second month of the 3rd quarter and 2nd half has no context or reference for a shared experience. Earth Fall, Feb (or Earth Rise, Feb) achieves the same concept of a 24 month calendar that roughly translates to a terran counterpart without over-complicating the terminology. Just a thought.

The impression I get is of a person who enjoys a good dispute.
This topic is not a particularly good place for that behavior.
If you want to make a contribution to the development of a calendar for Martians, you could do so, but it would require a change of attitude.
A printed calendar for use on Mars would (as I am seeing it) combine the Astronomical format with the Business format in progress here.
All segments of time would (surely) have names.

In the end, I decided that worrying about names for the months was a waste of time.
The current activity underway is a Sol-by-Sol proof of the viability of the Business format for a Martian Calendar.
In each daily post, you can see the Astronomical calendar represented by quotation from the French web site which is the primary reference.
If you would like to make a meaningful and useful contribution to the development of this topic, you are certainly welcome to do so.
Mars is moving resolutely around the Sun, with an appointment to reach Longitude 0 once again.
At the end of the current Martian year, if all continues as it has been going, this forum will see the arrival of the long New Years Eve,, which will allow the Business calendar to align with the Astronomical calendar once again.

Your partial quote intrigue me. I correctly associated Shakespeare with the quote, but became temporarily confused by the "Ides of March", which is from the same play. Google kindly came up with the correct phrase I was remembering:

There are two sets of months which need names. The astronomical months ( 1 through 12 ) are of varying length, based as they are upon the allocation of 30 degrees of longitude to each. It would make perfect sense to the names of famous astronomers to be assigned to these as place holders, until the people of Mars can hold a referendum to chose the "official" names they prefer.
It is the 24 months of the business calendar that I am thinking of for Shakespearean source, and since the current working method is to associate the months with the numbers 1-24, or the letters of the English alphabet A-Z, it is possible to come up with names recognizable to many English speakers, and perhaps a few speakers of other languages.
Romeo and Juliet come first to (my) mind.
Falstaff is next, but Portia is close behind.
At this point, I asked Mr. Google for assistance, and discovered a number of lists.
Wikipedia has two citations .... one covers A-K, and the second L-Z.
The Britannica would be expected to offer a list, and it does.
One of the alternative futures which can arise from the current initiative is a money raising undertaking by and on behalf of the Mars Society.
Your contact here has re-awakened my interest in this project.
It seems to me that a three part calendar might be of greatest value to a "real" Martian resident, especially one who came from Earth and has memories of friends and family still bound to the Terran calendar.
I think the pages of the calendar would most usefully reflect the business calendar, so I will assume that is the foundation of the structure.
However, each Sol entry can contain the corresponding Earth day and month, as well as the Astronomical month and celestial longitude.
That said, there are no Martians who might be willing to invest in such a calendar.
Instead, there are several billion Terrans, some of whom may be willing to invest in a novelty Martial calendar, especially if it provides the Terrestrial dates in an easily accessible form.

I did not mean to cite the Bard, but will accept the association. What many here have missed, in my long years lingering have observed, is that our dream of Mars is bereft of passion. So many paint in the black and white of mathematical formula, make chromatic a scientific theory of possibility, outline an antiseptic uncaring image of a world with no connection to history or to emotion.
Will we sail a 100 million miles to create a calendar that commemorates long dead terran scientists for no other reason than to be different from our Terran birth? No. Mars will adopt a calendar that facilitates business, as you identify, but recognizes a meaningful structure based on local conditions. Earth Rise, Earth Fall. If you think me wrong, our own earth calendar is based on the same concept of Sun Rise, and Sun Fall as it dictates the results of a society dependent on agriculture. Mars will be dependent on the Earth for any length of predictable future in the same way.
In a Mars/Earth business relationship, the actual dates are not important. The time lag and the relationship of conjunction is, which again goes back to why Earth Rise (getting closer) and Earth Fall (moving away) is a more critical element for any calendar.
Something to chew on.
Either way, kudos on the commitment to your calendar. The only thing missing, in my opinion, is something that allows people to actually connect. Halves and Quarters are great mathematical constructs, but Friday night is something we all relate to more than Day 5 of 7, Second half, Third iteration of Four in the Seventh Month of Twelve.

I would like to see an attractive product come out of this sustained initiative. The Mars Society could be the beneficiary, and the customers who buy the calendar for their young relatives will be stimulating the imaginations of the next generation at an early age.
Terraformer, your post #591 contains a hint of an artistic direction to look .... artists have been having a field day with astrological signs on Earth for thousands of years. There is an entire new tapestry available for artistry depicting imaginary Martian creatures for the 36 available month names.
