The flight referenced in the snippet by Victoria Woodburn may be the one that showed up in the Internet feed recently, with an 80,000 year flight time to Alpha Centauri. That is probably a reasonable flight time using existing technology. Hopefully humans will develop something faster but sending a slow probe would put another deep space sensor beyond Earth, similar to the Voyagers. Such a sensor package could provide useful knowledge as the base line for triangulation increases.

Striving to put humanity in space in a collaborative and altruistic fashion.For 60 years of spaceflight, every atmospheric re-entry ended in the same tense ritual: 4 to 7 minutes of total radio silence while mission control held its breath.
When your craft slams into the upper atmosphere at Mach 25, the compressed air sheath turns into a glowing, 2,000°C soup of ionized plasma. Its free-electron layer acts like a solid metal Faraday cage, bouncing ground-based radio frequencies straight back to Earth.
Yet during Starship flights, SpaceX can stream high-definition video continuously through peak plasma heating.
How? They didn't try to figh through the plasma shield. They looked up. While the belly of the vehicle is blocked by plasma compression, behind its back is a direct vacuum window to the nearest Starlink satellites.
This is all well and good when your re-entry vehicle is the size of a skyscraper, but most don't have the luxury of carving a huge tunnel through the plasma! Luckily, there is an alterative that is poised to eliminate radio blackout and help mitigate re-entry heating.
Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) shielding is the extremely syllabic term for when you put a big strong magnet in your vehicle. The magnetic field it generates will push away the re-entry plasma. This dispelling of the plasma bubble could be the key to enabling better performance for anything you want to bring home from space.
