And there was an economics book that is released each year or two with a summary of fiscal year spending. Ill get it for you as soon as i finish the stuff im working on.
If it's true, its a stretch to connect one to the other. Parties, alcohol, drugs-these were all there before video games. Look at the early 80s.
Video games dont cause people to kill people-there is always an underlying problem there...maybe the video game helped bring it out. But then again, maybe getting thrown into a garbage can, getting beaten, etc. did it. Millions of people of all ages play video games. How many of them become druggie murderers because of it?
Until we develop maglev tubes between "towns," yes, i agree.
But we wont be living in a huge hotel. People like separate quarters, and theres no reason we cant do this. Each extended family could have a bubble. Theres plenty of room to go around for the next few centuries.
The community could be like an extended family, but i think that bloodline families should be living separately. This usually helps to reduce friction, feel more relaxed, and so on. I dont think that we have to cram everyone together.
It is very moral. It is immoral to tax people more for being successful.
You also seem to forget the idea that lowering taxes stimulates growth, which often leads to more revenue in the end. So, it is practical.
Nothing you've offered seems to refute this. A person paying 10% is the same as someone 10%. This is perfectly fair and moral.
Actually, we operate at a trade deficit cal.
Second, Social Security is a larger part of the budget than Military. Somebody should take another look.
Third, a flat tax would force us to look at our spending more carefully, and maybe even stop operating at a trade deficit. That also means less handouts to other countries.
A flat tax is very fair in principle. Bill Gates would have to spend a few hundred million dollars a year in taxes. If they arent hiding income, thats more taxable income.
Workers might do less OTB working. Just maybe. It IS illegal.
Our tax system IS unfair. When people say a new plan only benefits the rich, thats obvious. A percentage decrease would obviously help the rich more in total dollars, because theyre more taxed to begin with.
A flat tax IS practical, and it is moral.
Hmm, yes, a community life would be very important. Maybe a town gathering center, or complex. But I still think extended families (grandparents, parents, etc.) should live together, and the children remain.
The extended family provides enough of a range of experiences and perspectives to care for children. This is how early settlements in America were formed, and how the Native Americans lived before that. Many still live this way. I think the extended family module would be a good idea for Mars.
Dont they have glasses that adjust to the amount of light and provide the optimum amount of tint?
No, no. That's ridiculous. Should we tax only the rich?
Or how would you fund the government?
It's a perfectly fair system. Youre taxing them in a percentage, so they pay less because they make less. It's very hard to make below $15,000 in this country, unless you are unemployed.
It costs the same percentage to a rich person to buy a car as it takes the poor person, to buy, say a refrigerator. A poor person could buy 10 more refrigerators, the same way a rich person could buy ten more cars.
They can buy the ten more cars because they did well for themselves. And tell me, what is wrong with that? Should Michael Dell have to suffer because he made more money than John Doe?
Fine, how about this, below a $15,000 income, there is no income tax. The rest gets a flat 15% tax.
E and shrooms are harder than pot.
And this is a bad example. Who knows what different combinations can do to people? Or even different substances?
Just take alcohol. I can drink 5 beers, and be buzzed, just for the sake of argument. You have 2, and youre plastered. Peanut butter can kill some people. Does this mean we should outlaw peanut butter?
I really dont think that anyone has any right to limit reproduction, or manage your children.
If a child grows into debt, yes, the family should repay it. I would hope that the family also made the child repay them with interest over time.
And if you want an argument against community raising children, look at america's foster homes. Good intentions, but in some cases, horrific result of abuse, neglect, and so on.
The parents who spawn the children are most like their children, not some psychologist who analyzes the child.
AJ, you need to be hugged.
Theres only one problem. No kids in the colony=the colony is dead in 50 years. So i think its really, easy, stupid, and counterproductive.
How many cases of arson are actually done by children? How many cases are actually like the one you described?
Its true. Nova should go to the surface and shake his fist at the asteroids.
i dont think anyone questioned the use of tires, i think the debate was the configuration of SSTO thats more viable at this point.
So somebody else can get credit for your work?
No, but somebody could find a way to use those resources better, process them faster, etc. Or a person could be incapable of using those resources.
Also, try distributing a large amount of resources to a large number of people. the inefficiency increases as the size of the population increases.
What is it that clark said? Common ground?
I guess all people have some issues that come into agrrement
Theres a small problem. I may be good at math, but not good at say, writing. Or my sight not be very good. So, I might choose to do something that suits my talents.
Even if resources were distributed evenly, the smartest, most adaptable, etc. person would be able to take the most advantage of his resources. Your system doesnt factor in human differences, which are very real.
Being a child, I strongly say I would rather have limited rights than be a part of a collective. I don't want to be taken care of by somebody who has nothing to do with my existence--my family reared me, and they deserve the chance to raise me.
Anybody read The Giver? That book influenced my view on communism a great deal. It might not be pure communism, but i hated the way that everybody was subject to the will of everyone else. Children should be free to choose, and their parents should guide them.
I still stick with my school/apprenticeship theory
Either you are deliberately missing the point, or im not expressing it well enough.
I wasnt talking about a server. If there is a pound of silicon for every person, only someone with computer manufacturing expertise could make a microchip, even if everyone else had the machinery. Therefore, only he would get the profit.
I get it, it doesnt support you, so its wrong?
Good game, lol.
I think we could do it with orion technology. More would be made possible by fusion though. I can't draw, otherwise I would draw out my idea.
wait wait. Youre saying, you made more money, so you can afford to buy more.
If you work a 40 hour work week, you are making ~$12,000 a year. You get to live on $11,800 a year.
A rich person loses the equivalent of a small car. A poor person loses the equivalent of two computers. I would rather have the car.
It is all equal. And most people do not make minimum wage. The median income is somewhere around $35,000 (correct me if im wrong), meaning most people would lose $3,500.
A person should not be taxed more simply because he did well. there is no reason Bill Gates shouldnt pay the same 10 cents per dollar as John Doe. He loses the same percentage of his income.
Wouldn't the CO2 outgas other gases?
Wanting to stop doesnt always work.
clark, that made no sense. 1,000/9,000 is the same proportion as 10,000/90,000.
This penalizes everybody equally. A person who makes ten times as much pays ten times as much. Should a wealthy person pay 91,000 dollars, so he can live on the same amount? Should the wealthy not be allowed to enjoy the fruits of their labors? I would agree that tax policies that benefit the rich too much are wrong, but a flat tax is fair across the board.
I dont believe in either.
