#51 Re: Terraformation » Nozomi might contaminate Mars - since it was not sterilized » 2003-11-15 12:54:02

News reports that Nozomi -- Japan's first mission to another planet -- is on course to crash into Mars have been exaggerated. The probability of Japan's first Mars mission hitting the Red Planet even without the planned trajectory corrections, which are standard operating procedures on all missions, is 1%, according to Hajime Hayakawa, of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

Thoughts on this anyone ?

My guess is that they'll run for it so to say. Not a lot of the same flights or the same scientific experiments but rather have the -been there done that, what's next on the menu -sort af thing. 3 shenzou flights, next is a small space station, next will be the moon, next a moonbase. That sort of approach.
Anybody thinks the same ?

I almost seems like it is/was manmade ... uh thingmade or alienmade (I don't like that *alien* word).
We will truly know what's actually on those pics when humans set feet on the red planet, no ?

#54 Re: Science, Technology, and Astronomy » Zubrin on Coast to Coast AM radio » 2003-11-15 12:15:43

Wim

I saw it on the net a day later. It was not on Belgium tv d'oh  big_smile
He sounded like almost fanatic I thought and I didn't know he had that high pitched voice. But he got the attention allright plus he was backed up by his two neighbours.

Where is my English  cool

I agree there with the 'far behind stuff'. I'd say they are almost ahead of us/europe/russia. China uses the most up-to-date capsule (plus there own adjustments) and some still say they are behind ?? because they started later ? c'mon now.
Who knows they will be the ones who give the kick in the butt of the others. I hope so to be honest.

I agree too.

Nasa shouldn't go to the moon (but to Mars).
China will go to the moon and put an outpost there.
Esa will go to Mars (in coo with Nasa ?).
Any other ?  ???
