The Earth does not have global dust storms. Where are the dunes brother?

cIclops

I don’t see any that are clean but some appear smooth near-by.

This area has a lot of active weather and as Spring arrives high winds would blow. It you notice there are no large dunes and no micro-dunes this would mean that the dust is re-incorporated into the surface.

One would be the weight of or protection from the CO2 snow. The elevation readings from the satellites  suggest up to three feet in mid winter.

Another contributor would be wicking or water ice melt in mid summer that would dampen the surface material and no allow saltation necessary for dune development.

I would say both are involved. The possible vent was noted due to dark material spray lying on the ground in the sun. This makes me say vent vs. shadow. The positioning is at the edge of a polygon and is located were a vent would be, that’s why I made the call.

This is the fun part

What do we see? Plenty of polygons for sure.

Area I- Rock with cup. The geologist on NASA TV said this is from water action as he held a rock from Antarctica. Don’t ask me why.

Area II very intriguing. Possible vent with dark matter ejection on surface, several areas of dark matter visible with obvious reincorporation of surface material.

Zydar,

.

The image I have posted above does contain structures. The detail of the structures is unable to be seen due to the resolution per pixel

That means we got to break out the inconclusive stamp.

Zydar,

The water is indeed underground with occasional eruptions on the surface that are transient.

For those that like their images a little sharper, a little more realistic just add some visene.

Tomorrow will be the greatest day or the worst day. Dana will start his analysts. Hort will give his story. Sir Charles will give his input. They are the best brother.

Vincent will try an reconcile all of it.

I am getting jazzed

#310 Re: Intelligent Alien Life » what do you think aliens would look like? - like what color, how tall.....etc. » 2008-05-24 18:25:40

Dudes,

Life is based on earth Knowledge. Now when I was in college we learned abbot the DNA helix. I think they have seen that with sugars in the vacuum of space, get me a bucket

If you think I is just a drunk just ask.

Naw, lets do some science. Otherwise cIclopes will think I is a chump.

A thinker. That’s a good thing

I do not have the knowledge to speculate, Maybe you do.

I will call the Geo types out  for you

PS, If they call you nutty do not sweat it brother. If they supply science then try to apply it and learn.

Vincent

#312 Re: Water on Mars » Water on Mars Today » 2008-05-24 17:15:15

Nutty rant 1247-14d

I added the word nutty because some folks think they are

Now I will post a bound hydrogen map of Mars What bonds with hydrogen?  Oxygen.

That would be water boys. If you look at the phoenix site you will see it is a sweat spot. I will post that to

Now the rant, It will be a good one. Scientist chime in at any time. I always wanted to say that.

Now planetary formation is dependent on temperature in regard to coagulation.

Fist Metal, second rock and third Ice

Time is an opportunistic phase in each realm that developed the terrestrial planets Venus, Earth and Mars.

The Gas Giants Jupiter and Saturn and you heard it here first, then the Ice giants Uranus and Neptune. Thy are ice brother

When the solar system formed you had to get out past Mars for it to be cool enough for water to form. The gravitational flux between Jupiter and Saturn sent the Ice laden Asteroids to the Terrestrial planets to supply water. 3.9 million years ago. The great bombardment they call it.

That is the basics. If you guys want to go deeper, chime in

Vincent

Rant 1247-14c

cIclops, I will try and number my rants. That number is to date

Now in the Phoenix Lander thread I mentioned the statement from Dr Bass that past life possibilities was the goal and life is a discovery for another mission.

Now if that is not a prejudice of science I will deliver news papers for the rest of my life.

We all know and respect the burden of the scientific standard, but we are dealing with robotic probes. I used the example of a corn field because of all the visible data I posted on this thread that was ignored by NASA. I see things that do not match the company line. I even got hydrogen data I have not posted yet at the Opportunity site because I was sort of hoping for some scientific types to chime in.

To quote myself, “Not a chance brother.”

Humans have eyes for reasons and they are designed to see certain things namely water and food.

I am excited about phoenix. Not for any revelation from NASA but the great minds that think for themselves. They will post their findings on their sites and forums. Not saying they are right but they are the  best of the lot and are not puppets or easy interviews.

I have named them from time to time. If you want a complete list just ask.

Translation on weather concerns For those not well versed in Martian weather.

The problem with the Spirit density was a dust storm. On Mars Dust storms can raise local or regional temperatures by 30C high into the atmosphere, unlike the day time maximum surface temperatures that can reach only a few hundred meters.

Warm air is less dense than cold air and produce less drag on the chute.

#316 Re: Intelligent Alien Life » Candor Chasma » 2008-05-24 13:56:38

Zydar,

I see no evidence of alien structures on this image, frozen brine lake maybe. The white band at the base of the feature is water snow that has fallen and the winds has blown it to the southern edge.

The chain on the right side does look peculiar but could be explained by  a hybrid geyser.

Sorry brother, keep looking

#317 Re: Unmanned probes » Phoenix - North Pole Region Lander (PHX) » 2008-05-21 09:27:29

A forecast for the landing area? Why the hell not. I is the man.

Tonight

Rapid cooling after sunset with frost developing in low lying areas. Then becoming cloudy with a 30 percent chance of isolated snow showers after midnight low around -125F winds light and variable

Tomorrow

Morning clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine. Can not rule out an afternoon Dust Devil. Winds light 10-15 mph with higher gust in the vicinity of Dust Devils. Highs around 30F

I hope I made Joe, from Accu-Weather proud

While Zydar is out looking for some good conclusive images of intelligent life I suppose we could put up some areas we would think the MRO team would look at. Trust me if the Face had not turned out to be a butte we would never have seen it.

Under the grumpy old man banner I say, “Show us the stuff.”

I will post one image at a time and you boys can comment if you like.

P.S. There are no wrong answers because we have no idea.

The first image looks like a lake. Could be. Could be a low topo area covered in CO2 ice. Wait, that stuff is suppose to be transparent, oh well.

The one million dollar question? Why no look?

#320 Re: Intelligent Alien Life » Candor Chasma » 2008-05-21 08:05:07

You guys missed my point.

If we got an imager that can resolve down to 3 ft, lets give it a look. My point is why no look? This is one of the most intriguing images from Mars. How many more buttes and dunes we need to see.

Today is image release day from MRO. No one will be in a hurry to look because it will be a false color image of dunes and buttes. Show us the stuff brother.

What is in that image? I have no idea and neither do you.

Vincent

#321 Re: Unmanned probes » Phoenix - North Pole Region Lander (PHX) » 2008-05-21 06:04:34

Well we can still be excited about the visible data and the different interpretations but do not expect any revelations about life on Mars from this mission.

From the NASA Blog

Dr Bass wrote:

Phoenix is not searching for life. That potential discovery is for a future mission that has specific life-detection instruments

Again no relevance to the visible data so even if we landed in a corn field some geographic or non-biological process could not be ruled out. So break out the, “Inconclusive,” stamp, it is over there beside the, “Defrosting dune," stamp.

Some guy named Darwin left a great comment on the Blog, That is one smart dude.

Well, lets give us an out. There are guys that can interpret the data. Hort will give us images and Levin’s is foaming at the mouth.

Now how long we got?
