I reed about that too, mars is heating up slowly. But we dont know much about the mars wheather cycles to predict that.
If the current melting of the southern cap countines mars will gain 1% atmosphere every mars decade or 20 earth years. that does not add up to a big change. But we have to rember planets do thens on geogolical time scales. A thousands years is a long time for people but is just a second in geo time. It may be that mars is going though a rapid climate change just like the earth did at the end of the last ice age. But that to took thousands of years. Its a good thing climate change does not happen over night, because when it does you get mass exentson. On mars it climate is more senitive then earth, it would only take a small change from people to cause a climate change. But isnt that the point to terriforming. By the Reds and greens what about the blues, I am for cover most of mars under a ocean. So that people can surf on mars. By even living there you change the place, so all those reds should stop being self righteous. It would be a waste to travel to mars then to do nothing. Like on earth even big onceans and brethable air mars will still have deserts  that look just like they did before. Also a few hunderd people cant start their own government thats just silly. Earth shall be mars master for ever, you little reds cant do anthing to stop it. Long live the earthlings!

Yes biosphere 1 is the earth, I quess biosphere 3 could be mars if life is there. I rembered that the reason it failed was that they had to many oxygen consuming micorbs. Even though a hectar of forest produces a lot of oxygen bacteria fungi use alot. It was like having thousand people there, about the same in mass as people. In many ways they over did things at bioshere 2, providing a too rich of environment. They tired to make an entire eco system by adding some trees or reeds that they dug up. It was out of balance. I thought that if they sealed the place up for 10 years things would balance out like they do in nature, the fish and other large animals could be add once the carbon and oxygen were stable.
Its easy to make enough oxygen for people when you use hydroponics, its just people and plants. But in trying to create an eco system you added microbs which use oxygen too. This is somthing to consider on mars when bliuding a dome. Do you try to recreate on earth like place with forests, farms, lakes, and streams. Or just have hydroponics to make food and O2. You could grow a forest of trees, citrus, nuts, using hydroponics but that does not seem natural.
Thats my it is better to have the micorbes out of your dome in a bio mound making greenhouse gases instead of using your air.
As for an ecosystem on mars I think would learn a lot more about the earth if made one on mars, thing we protect are own ecosystem here better. So by terraforming mars human learn how there own home works and gets a new place to live!
By the way I like bush, even he pushing for the moon, because if a democrate gets in he wont care about any thing to do with space. Rather to money away to pay for social programs for minorites. That is what happen after we went to the moon. What have done there is just as much social need as before, and china has a better chance of getting to the moon and mars than we do. Here on earth poeple produce millions of tons of garbge which ends up in a sanition land fill. Unlike the dumps todays landfills seal everything and protect the envirnoment, with heavy plasic linears. When trash is put in it is sealed by dirt into cells, pipes are then laid inbtween the cells to gather up the by product or the rotten stuff methane gas. On earth gas is burned off to make power, but on mars it could be use to terriform the planet.
Once there are colonys on mars they will produce trash, instead of recycling it rot it. Landfill are a perfect way to protect living microbes on mars, instead of being exposed to the harsh condition they are protected, warm wet, and lots of food "trash". They eat and make lots of green house gases, also could just have microbe that make NH3 too. it a lot easyer than wanting for surcondiction to improve or eniger them. Think of not as a land fill but like a undergroud greenhouse. "A Bio Mound" This could be done fast a cheaply if there is one thing people make it trash use it as asset on mars.
A town of thousand on mars could produces tons of trash in a year and turn it into greenhouse gases, Methane could be used to make better ghg lik pcf, or rocket fuel. Just a idea of the usefulness of waste, dont forget humanwaste from the tolet bacteria love it too.

Even if there was little life hiding on some probes the condiction on mars are just harsh, but if terriforming started and life started appearing that was not put then it might just from some old prob.

Since it is very hard to move an object with a large mass like even an comet or and small ice moon. One way to get water to venus or mucery would be to contrust your own ice object.  On jupitor moon ganymede the surive gravity is low desipte beening nearly as large as mars, because it almost half made up of water ice. With all that ice on the surface it could be easly mined. With the low gravity ice cubes the size of house could be easy lanched into orbit. In orbit the ice chucks could be fused together to from gaint ice ship. Maybe as big as the empire state building.  Then the ice could be melted and used as rocket thurst. We handle ships that large now easly. The ice ship would lined the reflective plastic to prevent melting, solar cells could line the plastice and provide the energe need to melt the ice for thrust.
Now it would take millions of such ships to give an ocean to venus but it is easy than moving large object.
Although a simialer technege could work with an small ice moon. Also Satern ring are filled with easy to move ice chucks from and moon that brook apart.

Those are good ideas, having an small deflitor magnete could stop a lot of the solar wind from hitting mars.
I have never read blue Mars before I just thought of the idea.
If a small eltromegnete works why not on a large scale, the wires could close to each other. A mile wide band of coil around mars could make a big field.
A new idea I came up with is to have a very strong electromegnete. You turn it on then you melt the surface rock in the field, when the rock cool it becomes a premitly magnet. In area that lack iron minerals poor liqued iron, or other metals. If you did this you could have a perment strong megnet band that spans the planet. No power would be needed to maintian the field.
This idea could work for a small area too, but there would have to be some oranization other wise rival field could cancel each other out.
This is easyer than biulding lots of power planets, also the solar wind could be directed to a small area to genterate power.
This happens on the earth in cannda, long power lines span cannda and absorb excess current from the solar wind that is forced their by the magnetsphere. Also it causes blacks by shorting out the system.

It reminds of the 2001 world series, after 9/11 everyone in america execpt ARIZONA threw there suport to the New York Yankes. I rember how every thought that the yankes deserved to win, so that new york could heal. But the yankes blow it they played bad and lost it for all the dead fire men, citzeen heros and such. Well just because every one in America thought that new york deserved to win doesn't mean that the diamond backs were just going to fold over and give it to them, they fought hard and won. In a way the only people that deserved to win are those who win, so cub fans dont be bring up a curse if they lose. If there one thing that I have lreaned on earth it is this, life is though it can surive in condiction we would find impossble to live in. So maybe the might some sort of bacteria like life living in a saline aguafir deep below the surface. Simliar to what survices in antartica and the artic. So if humans colonys mars and build  citys, in less poeple drain the aguafir than the life know were there. I know about agafirs because it is a big problem in my home state of Arizona. Develpor decde to build a big gulf course for a bunch old people who want to live near sedona, near the verde rivers headwaters to make everything perrty and the use wells to water. but there not a lot to replace from rain and snow so a cone depresion forms sucking the verde river dry. Which is bad for the fish, trees and animals that denpend on it for life, and for people how like trees and fising like me. I realy hate those eastern farts up sedona talking about magic crystals and vortexs, mean while there destorying Arizona and turning into another California, keep your liberal ideas on the other side of the colorado. Anyways life is tough and if mars is terraformed it will adapt and theirve. You think earth life is a cancer but I am sure earth and mar life will get along just fine.

I think you don't realize how co2 venus has, 90 bars thats a lot of atmosphere. If you did cool venus down using a gaint screen, the pressure is so great that you could seas of liquid co2 on venus. Now that would a starge sea fish in.
I thought slaming merury into venus was a good idea it is certianly more creative than just using small astorads to get rid of the thick atmosphere. My way you dont loss the atmosphere most of it gets disolved in the rock vapour from the collision. later to come back by volcanoes on the new worlds.
    A new solution to venus terraforming is to add back the water venus lost. I am not talking about just little old comets, i want to give it ann ocean!
I would do this by using an large ice moon from the outer solar system or a kelper belt object that very large. Minus of Staren is a good one, its not too large to move, and its mostly made up of ice. I might cover the surface with plastic so it does not turn into a gaint comet when it get close to the sun. The ice would be slamed into venus, the ice would melt an evaporate fast. There a lot water in an large ice moon more than enough to competly cover venus in a golbal oncean. At first all that water end up into the atmosphere but water good at cooling things off, so venus would cool down to the point a gobal rain storm would happen cover it with an gobal ocean. Water is good at disloving stuff, so a lot the atmospheric co2 would turned into carbonic acdic in acid rain, rectic with venus to form carbonite rocks, this is what happen on earth and keep the co2 level from getting to high. On venus it might bean just a little hotter so the ocean never got as large it the co2 just keep bluilding up to all the ocean boiled away. Leading to the hell it is now. But by adding a huge amount of water we can reverse what happened, and repeat what happened on earth.
With a gaint sun shade to cool  venus down plus a lot of water from a ice moon, we could get ride of the thick co2 atmosphere and replace it with a golbal ocean, we then can split the water water apart to make oxygen and bring down the ocean level to expose some land, plus algea in the ocean co2 will not over over heat venus again. With an goble oncean you dont have the problem of the long day and noght you could just sail ships bak and forth between the night and day, and ocean current would also carry algea around. this seem a good solution, the only prolem is finding the right short of ice moon one not large because it take long time to move it to venus, with an ice moon you could melt the ice and use it as thrusters, it could take several large ice moon to to take of venus thick atmosphere.
That my idea sun shade plus lots of water and plants when venus got oceans. This one realistic way to terra form venus.
